They are all nice finishes, I love red wood finishes like cherry and rosewood/rosenut. It also matched my speakers well. The best thing you can do is ask her for her opinion, get her involved unless she doesnt know you are spending money!! If you are going dark, do the espresso, its beautiful, I have seen that one too, its better than black

I have a Rosewood VTF-3 as well. It is a thing of beauty. Everyone tells me my end table is beautiful!

My speakers are all black but the sub is rosewood. All of the other furniture in my family room is a dark cherry so the rosewood matched perfectly and looks like furniture.

I just got the rosenut VTF-2 MK3 and while I had a bit of trouble at first, it is now working perfectly and it is amazing! When it came yesterday it worked for a few minutes, then started making sounds like a pissed off cat, then stopped working altogether. I called HSU at 3:30 their time and at 2:00 the next day a brand new amp arrived. I installed it and now it works great. I sampled some clips from The Dark Knight blu-ray and they were jaw-dropping. You will be very happy with this sub, and the rosenut looks so luscious.

I have the VTF-2 MK3 and the sound is incredible. I recently changed receivers from a Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH to a Denon 2309. The Denon seems to make the subwoofer more intense. The bass is clear but LOUD.

amazing subwoofer overlooked by many, in search of ID companies back in the day, but of course, nowadays, is one of the pioneer companies that create if not at par to SVS subwoofers. better? i cant say, i dont own both, but can hold their own.

VTF series are definitely amazing subs. i also remembered when they use to sell turbochargers for the VTF-3's tho...

Just ordered a VTF-2 MK 3 in rosenut and it should be arriving next Tuesday. Time to retire my almost 30 year old Micron passive sub. I'm excited.

Not much action of late over here on this thread. Maybe a bump will get it going again.

Default ULS-15 Dual Drive owner

This tread does not get much action on this forum. So let's get things moving again.

I have been into audio since my first stereo when I was 15 years old. Since I have a listening habit of 50% music and 50% movies I bought a ULS-15 Dual Drive back in April. These subs have to be one of the best available currently. I bought the walnut veneer and it looks like HSU put an amp and a driver into a block of walnut. Outstanding craftmanship. Then on top of that, the most articulate subwoofer I have ever heard and I have heard alot of subs in my time. I used to be a HT consultant, design and installation. These subwoofers are so accurate you can hear every note a bassist would play on a bass guitar or cello. The subs will also play a 16hz note from a pipe organ. When a 16hz note plays it is a really weird feeling.

So now I have the complete package in my HT family room. Two ULS-15 subs to enforce the sub 20hz notes and two Velodynes to assist the upper bass range from 30Hz to 150hz.

I play the Ironhide flip in Transformers for friends, families and anyone who wants to hear a demo and I am amazed at the size of their grins. Simply the best sounding low frequencies sweep ever recorded in a movie.

Please click on my current system link in my signature if you would like to see what the HSU ULS-15 looks like with the walnut veneer. And if you are considering buying a Dual Drive system, I believe you would not be disappointed. I was not disappointed and I know of at least four other owners who are keeping theirs.

This is the only piece of gear I own that I didn't audition first.

I couldn't be happier!

HTG- Do you plan on buying a sealed MBM from HSU in the future? Just curious as my future plans are to go with the ULS-15 and compliment it with one of their MBM units for the mid-bass action.

Previous gear was a VTF-HO w/Turbo.. I wasn't 100% please with the transition with the Turbo (didn't seem like a smooth frequencye response in my room). Without the turbo it sounded great but didn't dig quite as deep.

My Energy RC-30's and RC-10's are great but they don't pack enough mid-bass punch on their own to keep up if I push a movie.

Still happy with my STF-1! By far the cheapest component in my system but never seems like the weak link. I wouldve switched it out a long time ago if it wasnt good enough but it sounds awesome for movies and music. Great all around performer and bang for your buck!

great to see hsu subs get some love. i sold my stf-2 to fund my eD a2-300 last year when i moved into a bigger house. while the a2-300 goes deeper and fills my space well, i miss the accuracy and tightness of the stf-2. i think a combo of the 2 would be heavenly...

Definitely. It is amazing at how well the little guys perform (STF-1 and STF-2 (used to have one... amazingly clean and transparently blended in)... that leads me to believe I've never pushed the big beast (VTF-Ho) I had even remotely close to what it was capable of back in the day.

No I have two Velodynes that are very capable in the mid bass area. But your plan sounds like a winner. Just got done watching Ice Age 3 and there is some kick a$$ LFE in this movie. Definitely gave my four subs a good workout.

That subwoofer looks gorgeous. If you can put it on a small riser such as Subdude or Gramma, it may look and perform better. Alternatively, you can build one yourself.

what is the ironhide flip? trying to think of the scene??? is that when he fights the other fighter planes in the air above the city?

i am seriously considering this sub or the svs cylinder. http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html
looks like this one you can switch from music to home theater, how does that work?
