same, what I did like or at least want to use was the extra episodes of dexter season 2 / first two eps of usa of tara ... just to check those out and was let down that they weren't up. I'll take top notch PQ/AQ anyday and as long as that's not getting skimped on I can deal with anything they add

And after all that, it wouldn't accept my info. I don't know why and I don't care. I will not bother registering it. It's simply too time consuming. The juice just isn't worth the squeeze. What a way to drive a wedge into an evening! My wife told me that if I wanted to go through that excercise again I should probably do it early in the morning before everyone is up. Why couldn't they have waited a couple of years until they could get it working properly? It seems very "unhollywood" to release such a half-baked product (Ishtar excluded I can't help but think that this kind of experience would put people off of the whole thing, making the days of BD Live numbered. What a shame.
You mean too early like pretty much ANYTHING else on the market today......any technology in any application? NO.

Pretty much useless at the time, no real difference between special features on the disc or the ones on the site.
The only viable way of using it has not even been studied, I'm sure : sell the bare bones movie, and have all the special features sold on the Studio site. That way they sell more disks and gain a lot with the special features, which cost about nothing to put online

Unless Disney has lit up many of their options, it is a waste of time.
Last time I went to Disney's BD-Live, "Coming Soon" is what most of the options said when clicked.

Other studio's BD-Live, you get trailers. The very things I skip over to get to the movie itself.
Some, are bordering on documentaries that I really have no want to see anyways(Kung Fu Panda anyone?).

The various studios need to either light BD-Live up or let it die - but pick one!

BD Live is not even a thought for me. The only reason a BD player(not talking about the PS3) should have an ethernet connection or WiFi is for firmware updates. I do love Digital Copys though!!

For the same reasons you get on the phone and talk to someone that isn't there. For the social aspect of connecting with loved ones. Especially for Disney movies, I could see parents who have to be separated from their kids for whatever reason enjoying sitting down and knowing that are watching the same movie as their child.

If you pause the movie to get up and use the restroom (or for whatever reason) would the movie pause for everyone else?
Yes, it would pause for everyone.

It all just seems pointless to me. I'm just stating my opinion on the matter here. My opinion is the whole BD Live feature is useless. I've not once seen a single thing this feature has utilized that I would care to take advantage of. Other people have - sure. Just not me. So, my opinion is if they really want to reach the widest audience then they will put everything directly on the disc to start with. This will also help the people who don't have internet at their home.
To me, the social networking aspects of BD-Live are its key selling points. I mean downloading additional seems like a nice idea, but it's something you can't really believe the studios are going to do much of. They'd much rather re-release the film as some Ultimate Edition to make you buy it again.

But the social things are really something that couldn't have been done before. It may not interest you, but playing the trivia games on Disney's discs is certainly something kids might enjoy playing.

Or the live commentary session with Chris Nolan for The Dark Knight. Another interesting use.

Or whatever disc (or maybe its discs now) that allows you to create your own commentary tracks and upload them for other people to download and listen to.

Someone mentioned using it to market sequels. That seems like a pretty neat idea. Make the latest trailer for a sequel available exclusively to Blu-Ray owners of the first film. Put up limited time only making-of features. Maybe post some off-screen cast tomfoolery. And so on.

Again, none of these things may interest you, but I think they are clever uses of the technology and things that are not possible with DVD.

JW13,

You said "netflix?" in response to something I said but I don't follow. I do have netflix and I rent lots of Blu Rays from them. I tried the netflix streaming stuff on my macbook and a PC I have in the basement but the quality of streaming media was worse than DVD so I just wait for them to send me stuff. It only take about 3 days to exchange one and I have the 3 at a time plan so I can't watch movies fast enough to keep up with Netflix even without the streaming.

You and your small group of resident "snipers" have an amazing ability to deduce things about people you have never met and come up with the wrong conclusion. The rest of the guys here seem pretty decent and open minded. Hopefully I can interact with them without the passionate cries of the hyper sensitive.
