Check the menu of the player and the receiver.

Is it possible that there is something special about the way they produced those two albums that requires the monitor to be on? I doubt that.
I don't think anything is wrong but I was expecting the "HDCP Repeater" to be the key. I read your posting under Audio Theory: "A guide to Optical, Coaxial, and Speaker Cables" but you didn't go into the HDMI connections. I would certainly like to see you add in some stuff about the HDMI and include things about the HDCP. It appears that my understanding of what HDCP might be controlling with my audio playback doesn't hold water so I need some educating in that area.

Once I have briefly turned on the video monitor via HDMI connection the sound works OK even if I change CDs. Of course the DVD Dual Discs almost force you to select 'play' via the monitor menu display anyway. I have tried a few different SACD and DVD-A, Dual-Disc mostly, with the same issue, interrrupted sound until the monitor is activated.

Forgot to say the connection is HDMI from the Pioneer DV-49AV to the Sony STRG-1000 rcvr and HDMI to the TV, 42" Westinghouse.

As soon as I have some time, I will add some HDMI information.

I am still confused about your problem. I play both SACD and DVD-A through HDMI cable. My Denon receiver has HDMI 1.3 connection. The Oppo player is only HDMI 1.2. I have never experienced your problem.

Prior to this, I played SACD and DVD-A with my Pioneer Elite player to the Pioneer Elite receiver through the i-link (IEEE 1394) cable. No issues. What seems to be the problem?
