I don't watch "films", I watch "movies".

Movie snob? Me? No, not at all.
I'm one of the types that watch a movie purely for entertainment.
I couldn't care less what camera was used, what the director's "vision" was, or the anything else that is far and away from the entertainment aspect of a movie.
I also don't G.A.S. what other people say about a movie.
If the movie sucks *TO ME*, then the movie sucks - *TO ME*.
If the movie is great *TO ME*, then the movie is great - *TO ME*.

As always, YMMV.

No, wrong.

I am from the UK and here we use the phrases Film or Pictures much more, movies are more of an Americanism. I don't know anyone here who says:

"I am off to the movies" or "I saw a great movie last night".

You are more likely to hear someone say:

"I am off to the pictures" or "I am off to the cinema" or "I have just seen a great film".

Nothing at all to do with snobbery. I think snobbery is much more evident here in the way people write about the subject.

Movie Theater?
Film Theater?

Yes, in the way people write about it...

When you tell a movie snob you didn't like their favorite movies, they can only fire off "you just didn't understand it".

oh ckent..come on, you really gonna be hard headed again?

if you're arguing over film/movie..you're not a movie snob..just a snob jk

as for the op..not a movie snob, i have no problem watching anything. i'm not one of those people that sees *insert director's* name on the box and is like..omg best ever and if you don't like it its because you don't get it...blah blah blah

i take what the movie is..and go from there.

I watch what I like. If that happens to be Hannah Montana or... well whatever people consider legit, then that's just the way I roll.

Yes, it's all semantics. But when find someone who is riles to raw, bare nerves about something so trivial, it becomes and amusing diversion.

A movie snob is someone who won't watch certain movies no matter how many people say it's good because to them it has no value.

Ex. They would never watch Point Break or Armageddon.

I love Point Break and Armageddon also all other films. Got a pretty diverse collection actually. My brother though, he would never watch some of the movies I love.

Couldn't that be merely someone with different tastes?
I would rather not watch Drama because I prefer not to.
Doesn't make me a snob, it means I have different tastes in movies.

Do you watch reality shows on TV? Survivor Island?
I don't!
Does that make me a snob?

But if all of your friends and people you know told you there was a drama to watch that you shouldn't miss you would watch it or at least consider it right? My brother won't watch some movies if Ebert gives it a bad review.

An American, for the American market.
Americans say "movies", we in the sophisticated continent (i.e. Europe) [cf. Penton-Man ] say "films".

But......my kids are saying "movies", and also "diaper" and "candy"......
