i think no-name actors are a bit of a gamble. just because they are a dead ringer for lincoln doesn't mean they can act to save their lives. though speilberg does manage to cast no-names a lot with great success. he's got that touch.
That's what I was banking on. If he pulled that off, Spielberg would be back on the map. Just more spectacular to me that way. I think Liam Neeson (as great as he is) will be too much of a distraction for me.

I look forward to the film. Would Frank Langella be a good alternative as Lincoln? He is a fine actor, would go from playing Nixon to Lincoln, and he is 6' 3" tall.

I guess your right; I just checked he is 71. He looks great for his age though.

Okay, who else can list all the mentions of Lincoln in a Spielberg film? I can.

And who can list what seminal, powerful influence on Spielberg may have led him to focus on a Spielberg biopic?

I'll give you a hint.

Sadly, they took that show out. I worked there for many years. I actually sat on his lap (don't ask).

Saving Private Ryan - Lincoln letter read after the end of the opening battle and the concluding battle.

Minority Report - The child of Howard Marks rehearses the Gettysburgh address while Marks pretends to get ready for work.

Gremlins 2: The New Batch - (produced by Spielberg) In a dig at the first film's over the top traumatic Christmas story involving Phoebe Cate's father trying to climb down the chimney, she starts to relate a trauma she suffered in a park on Abraham Lincoln's birthday...the other characters shut her up and shuffle her off screen.

Any more?

I wouldn't worry much. Neeson is actually an actor that can act.

Wow, this one is finally picking up momentum. I remember this was announced back when Munich was getting released. That was back in 2005, I believe.

imdb states 2011. We would have gotten a trailer for it by now if it was going to be released this year.

we wouldn't get a trailer if the movie hasn't even been shot yet

the point of the article is that the movie may be fast tracked IF it is green lit, and to therefore expect a December release. imdb is not definitive and changes all the time based on a movie's situation. they listed superman returns sequel as 2008 with everyone attached at one point

Well, production could start soon. I mean, it probably wouldn't be long to shoot for about 2 months and then spend the rest of the time to edit.
