Does raise a interesting question though. If Capt is the leader of the team, how much younger could he be and still be believable in that dynamic? Assuming of course that they bring back Norton along with Downey Jr.

Could they go younger than say 35?
I don't think its about the actual age, but how he looks on screen. To me at least, McDonough looks like a guy in his mid-40's... and I know RDJ is also in his mid-40's, but we're talking about 2 completely different people and 2 completely different roles.

Now I know you're smoking something He's in his thirties in the first pic I posted (the one you say he looks older).

I'm kidding about the smoking.

Listen, I respect your decision, but I just disagree with you. I've never seen him in anything which would lead me to believe he would be right for the role of Captain America. He is a good actor and great in the roles he picks, I just would rather see someone else.

...And I don't care if he's 19 in that photo, I still think he looks older.

You may be right. I will say that I thought Marvel did a wonderful job with Tim Roth as a super soldier (in the campus sequence) and he was mid 40's when that was filmed.

I also thought they made Downey look younger as Stark (hair cut, trimmed beard, makeup). Look what they were able to do with Pitt in some of the scenes of Button. I'm just saying you never know.

I agree with you about Tim Roth he was great as he always is. I'm just don't think that Neal McDonough is at the same level as guys like Roth and Downey.

... Like I said I like the roles I've seen him play, I just don't think he has the charisma to carry a movie like this. It's nothing against him, I just think there are better guys out there.

I think he was almost an afterthought for a while after bottoming out with all the problems he had and was on his way back. At least I think that's what they were referring to. I mean, besides independent films, he definitely wasn't a headliner (big name star) as he once was. Shaggy Dog? At the time, Wesley Snipes name was bigger than his. He really screwed things up there for a while. He could always act, but he messed up a bit there. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's back (big time) so he can dictate what he does. I'm just trying to explain where the writer might be coming from. From the standpoint of having a recognizable name, you are right.

I had more in mind a guy like Sam Worthington or maybe Gerard Butler... They are both pretty big guys and Butler was really passionate in 300.

... I saw a while back Marvel was talking about Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, but I don't think they would ever do something like this. I think that was all wishful thinking.

I would love to see Butler get back to a manly role after all the chick-flicks he's been doing. Worthington has also expressed his desire to play Cap. I've yet to see him in anything besides Hart's War, and I can't remember him to be honest. Does he have the acting chops to play opposite these guys in Avengers? Butler would be cool though.

I look forward to seeing Worthington in Terminator and Avatar. He'll be pretty big really soon.

There may be some backlash if an American doesn't play him, but personally I think the better actor would be more important.

I really think Worthington is going to be a star 2-3 years from now. He is in Terminator and Avatar this year.

I don't think people would have a problem with it, I mean the entire batman production was European. It would be different if the cast a European as John Wayne in a biopic or something like that.

You make a point, but they would have to cast Jessica Alba and give her a nude scene for me to see another Street Fighter movie. I honestly turned off the trailer before it was finished playing.

Yeah, I have a problem with seeing movies though. At least it looks better than Dragon Ball: Evolution; which I will be seeing...... pity me, with your deepest sorrow.

As long as you mix in some good ones here and there. I haven't watched the Dragon ball Z trailer because I have never even seen the cartoon so I know I wouldn't be interested.

He'd be a good fit.

People who don't think so, obviously have never picked up a Captain America comic.

Try reading Last Hero Standing.

And... you're wrong.

The guy is a picture perfect match for Captain America... All he would have to do is bulk up a little bit and give the guy a shield.
