Default Who should be cast as Captain America?

Casting is key with Capt America. He's the leader of the Avengers and he has to command respect on screen when he's surrounded by other respectable actors (Downey Jr, Norton). Capt is Blond haired blue eyed and has the morality of Superman. Who do you think would make a great Steve Rogers AKA Captain America?

My pick would be:

Daniel Craig. He can do an American accent, and he's definitely made a name for himself as Bond, and he still shouldn't be too cost prohibitive yet.

Some other Blond actors:
Brad Pitt
Paul Walker
Kiefer Sutherland
Leonardo DiCaprio
Jude Law
Matt Damon
Josh Lucas
Matthew McConaughey
Mark Wahlberg
Thomas Jane

I dunno about all those folks I think it should have McCounaughey's build as the Cap is always portrayed big, but I dunno who should be casted maybe someone else should have an idea, but definately not Brad Pitt, Paul Walker, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jude Law they just don't seem like good candidates.

First off... Great Thread OP! Secondly, I like Daniel Craig as the front runner for Steve Rogers. I think he would do well. Thirdly, nix Paul Walker (too what's up bro man?-ish), nix Leo (not his style), nix Thomas Jane (did the Punisher-shouldn't double dip), and finally nix Jude Law (not Alphie, no way).

Heres my choice:
Dominic Purcell

All he has to do is change his hair color...

I'm just going to throw a name out there... Russel Crow. Not sure if he is the right type though.
Then it has to be Chuck Norris.

Who cares about hair color, that is what dyes and wigs are for.

"Affleck was the bomb in phantoms yo!!!"

The main dude from Grind should do it. I don't know his name, but they should just build a star from the ground up for this one.

There is currently no one out there who can do this role justice and not make it campy.

F that...Samuel L. Jackson!!!

Have to agree, I think Craig would do very well in the part, but he would have to completely do away with any British accent...

It's a movie, not the real Capt America. He's got the physique, the look and he can hold his own with the other actors. Arnold is decrepit.

Craig and Wahlberg seem like the only guys close to even being worthy of consideration on that list. Great question... very tough.

I think Daniel Craig would be a lock if he were actually American. Maybe it'll end up being someone out of the blue entirely.

One of the problems with a Capt America movie is the worldwide box office (which if anyone doesn't think it's a big deal is kidding themselves). A Capt America film may not appeal to many outside of America, and by casting Craig, it may be a way to help others accept the premise. In fin, the movie should speak for itself, story, acting, production values, but you've got to get people in seats to begin with.

Daniel Craig would be a good choice, if he weren't already James Bond.

I think Matt Damon would be good. He's bulked up from Bourne and he's got that all American look.

I'd agree but hes to big of an actor, he'll want too much money like they all do..., how about this, who should be cast as Thor?

While my brain isn't function enough yet today to come up with a good idea, I haven't seen a good one on this thread yet. Keep trying

I disagree. If you look at all the Bond actors (Connery included) none of them have been the huge salary guys outside of their Bond roles. And Bond is the opposite of Capt America, that's exactly why (IMO) it is a perfect fit.

No-Name actors usually are the best for these type of movies.....

Look at Hugh Jackman... before "X-Men" most people didn't know who he was..... and he was very fitting in that role.

If they audition enough people, they'll find the perfect fit..... if they look for just the "big name" they cut their risks of ticket sales, but the profitability goes into the toilet.
