You know, there could be a profitable business strategy behind these faceplate styles. Not all of us can (or even want to) build our HT systems from one manufacturer's line of products. One mfgr. making various components that will match the styling of others' products could allow for a nicer look to a stack of mixed components.

Not that I believe that Sony is actually doing this -- but it is one possibility. Otherwise, I don't have a clue. What's really going on over at Sony.

THe Sony Str-DN1000 looks nice, but the other new receivers look uglier than Onkyo's.
