It just me or am I way off in my thinking......if you are a professional media outlet that reviews movies for home release, why in the world wouldn't you own a Blu-ray player right now?
That's like if in 2000 when stuidos were giving me screeners in DVD a couple months after the movie went to the theater and I only owned a VHS player. I just went and purchased a DVD player for $150, I didn't whine about not getting a stupid VHS screener. This guy is a complete noob. If he doesn't want the screener I'm sure there are a ton of other people who wouldn't mind having it. |

Well now the Blu-ray copy and 720p Recode will find their way into the net. They already are. It's funny tought, they send copy to reviewer early and 99% the iso is on the internet several hours after the first review...
Personnally i don't own any of those. I own only ones that didn't came with Digital Copie for my Ipod Touch, if i need to, but i own the Original Disc... I bought what.. 300 + disc in the last 2 years on Blu-ray... I also buy my own disc, so my review rate on my website sucks ![]() |

And yes, they can still view the movie via DVD to see how the quality is, and the Blu-ray should contain all of the extras that the DVD has, and even if the extras in HD on the Blu-ray, I don't think I've really ever seen a review go into the video/audio quality of the extras for a DVD, so it shouldn't be a big deal. It still should be very possible to write a review of the DVD. |

I think this is great news. The sooner DVD is phased out, the sooner I get my favorite films on the best home video format on planet Earth.
By the by, given Ultimate Disney.com's hostility towards Blu-Ray (and I'm not talking about their goonbat forums, I'm talking about their critics, who never pause to snipe at Blu-Ray), we Blu-ray disney fans can now experience a full on jolt of schadenfreude, as UD only receives DVD screeners. |

She must be the only person complaining that at BB the DVD costs the same as the Blu. People around here will be delighted to hear that Blu is the same cost as the DVD.
If she truly wants to review it, let her...GASP!!!...buy the title. Nothing wrong with that, and hey, then she is free to give her opinion with the assurance it won't be compromised by a freebie from the studio. |

I just read through that entire thread at UltimateDisneyblahblahblah (which is only up to two pages now), and -- I'll try to be sensitive here -- there is some major ignorance going on over there. There's one douchebag (oops, there goes my sensitivity) who "noticed a slight improvement but had to LOOK for it, others looked exactly the same." when talking about DVD vs. Blu. Yet another said "To me HD DVD was the better format."
What the f--- are these people smoking? I feel like joining that forum just to be combative and shoot down their lame theories and ideas. |

I was wondering (hoping) that you were the same "Beast" that's over there. Way to defend Blu...although I almost feel bad for saying that because this format needs no defense. From ridiculously obvious superior video and audio, to its humongous advantages in the computer world in regards to data storage capacity. Yeah, it's not quite the same leap as VHS to DVD, but it's still very obvious to anyone who can see. People who can't discern the quality difference are people I do not want driving on my streets. They probably can't tell the difference between a Prius and a Porsche.
Man, I need to go out have a smoke to cool down...and I don't even smoke. |

I just don't understand what they would hate about Blu-Ray. It's about change and keeping up with technology. Are they the kind of people that stick with the classics no matter what? I bet they're still spinning vinyls.

I brought up the anti-blu bias at UD.com a long long time ago, and some of you got on my case about it.
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...-blu-ray%5C%22 Personally, I'm embarrased as a Disney fan that some of these people also call themselves fans. Walt was a leader in innovation -- he produced the first multi-track surround sound system for theaters, made the 2nd American wide screen film (20,000 Leagues), color cartoons, sound cartoons, feature length cartoons, Disneyland, shooting his TV shows in color knowing black and white wouldn't last...Walt was always using new technology. Now you've got these Disney fans who are against Blu-Ray because DVD is '"good enough"? I think the truth is that they bought every Disney DVD ever made and they're boiling over the idea that their collections are obsolete. Last edited by Ernest Rister; 03-04-2009 at 09:57 PM. |
