Saw it on Tuesday evening in France (premiere in my city), and it was just amazing !!!
For me, it's just a masterpiece by Zack Snyder !
I was a huge fan of the graphic novel, but here, what a film !
Enjoy

Can't wait for July for the Blu-Ray with the director's cut (plus, there will surely be the LOTR trilogy, what a july month ^^)

Would the director's cut one include all 3 versions?
THis is sick, they have 3 different versions and they are selling them separately

Any words on the actual differences?

We hope you didn't buy just a plain, old standard Blu-ray, because this new Ultimate Watchmen Blu-ray disc can be yours for $34.99 this holiday season.
No need to be cynical about it. The theatrical cut is already very long (and very accomplished), and integrating non-essential bits that you mention would have really pushed the patience of many.

This is why we have BD, anyway. I saw a mint print of the movie, straight from the lab, three weeks ago, and I'm already certain that BD will look better. And I'd much rather watch something this long in the comfort of my own home.

Besides, I'm not sure that Under the Hood will ever be incorporated into the movie proper. I'm not even sure that incorporating TOTBF is necessarily going to work in the movie format.

I can't recall, will the Director's Cut be included in the original July release Blu-ray or will I have to wait for the Ultimate blu-ray to see the Director's Cut? I can always buy the Black Freighter separately anyway.

Ok let me get this right. There will be 3 versions, theatrical, the extended cut, and the directors cut? And the theatrical and extended will be released this July. Then the directors cut will be out for Xmas?

I hope there will be digital copies.

That's everyone's guess, but we're going to have to wait a little while for confirmation. I mean, the film was just released three days ago.

As opposed to films like LOTR (in which I only watch the EEs), I actually wouldn't mind getting a couple of different versions of the movie to watch based on my mood.

If there really are going to be the three versions, I think the two that I want are the EE and the DC. The Black Freighter seems like a great idea, but I wouldn't mind a version without it as well. I want to see how it plays out.

The one thing I'm almost certain I don't want is the Black Freighter by itself. I can't imagine myself ever wanting to watch it like that.

Not that it means much but videoeta.com has it down for an August release. Of course, that's most likely their standard 5 month guess.

I thought this movie was awesome. I never read the graphic novel so I didn't really know what to expect going in but it was great. You can tell Zach Snyder was really passionate about making the movie. I loved the idea of retired superheroes coming back.

I hate double dipping so if I have to wait until the end of the year to get the Ultimate Edition then I may have to see it again in theaters at some point.

OK so there will be 2 blu-ray releases (3 DVD releases).

1) Theatrical (2 hours 37 mins) and Directors (3 hours 2 mins) in late July

2) Ultimate (3 hours 25 mins) fall maybe, they didn't give much info.

Sounds good. I hope that the ultimate version does come out sooner in the fall rather than later. I have a feeling, however, that it'll come out more toward Christmas time than anything else. I do have to agree with the article, though: Is TotBF only really 15 minutes long or not? I wonder if on the ultimate edition they'll include the theatrical cut, the director's cut, the ultimate cut, along with TotBF, Under the Hood (watchable separately as bonus material), plus all the other special features from the previous release.

this has me worried a bit now, as i remember reading about a month or so ago that the director's cut of the film plus all the GF and UTH stuff brought the total experience to near 4 hours. So, if this ultimate cut with everything cut into it is only 3hrs 25min, then it looks like we'll be missing some parts. Which i guess wouldn't suprise me, because i'm sure warner wants us to buy as many things as possible to get the full experience.

if that's the case, i'll be getting the extended cut plus the bf to have everything, though i'll wish there was some super version with all content added in. honestly, i love the movie so much i'd happily buy a 4 hour release even if they charged some outrageous price for it.

EDIT: ok, just checked netflix and am a bit more worried now, as they have the BF dvd clocking in at 100 minutes, which would mean that at 3 hrs 25min we're definitely missing something as the theatrical cut+BF brings total run time to 4hrs 17min.

The Black Freighter release that comes out next week is the animated version, and has much more story than was ever in the book. They shot a few live action scenes, like the ones described in the book, and those are in the extended cut.

Snyder said in that link that they used just about everything they shot. I wouldn't worry about stuff being left out...
