Oh hell yeah, that makes two of us that are smart...

So does this movie really have a conservative theme to it? If so I'm all for it. Never read the graphic novel, so I'm very curious to see this.

i just saw the movie. here's my take on it:

i thought it was fantastic. i do think that towards the end the movie becomes more and more truncated. and as result a lot good and important gets lost. it's like their trying to shoe horn a fat cankled size 9 foot into a tiny size 6 shoe. the watchman book is more than just the watchmen. all the characters make up this world and can be seen as vital. with the movie they decided to focus on the watchmen characters alone for the most part and that i think is a great benefit to the film. the comic book storyline was great but packed with so much stuff that it got a bit confusing, dizzying and distracting at times.

mostly what was left on the cutting room floor for the film is now unnecessary filler and fluff. i don't really the changing of the ending that much, but i think it works for they what they were trying to achieve. because there is a lot though that isn't in the movie some stuff doesn't make sense. it could've been a little longer as a movie. don't take this to mean to i didn't like the movie. most of what is on there is some of the best ever seen in a comic book movie. this well could be the best comic book movie made. it certainly rivals the dark knight and is truly a comic book movie in every sense.

Just got home from seeing it on IMAX. Im not a hard guy to please, as long as a movie is coherent, entertaining, delivers on its original scope and worthwhile, I will recommend it to other people. That being said I've been waiting for this movie to be released for quite sometime.

I dont even know where to begin, first off..NO Its not a movie for kids.. lots of sexually explicit scenes/innuendos as well as vivid/ graphic action sequences not intended for kids. Without giving any plot of the movie away lets just say its a movie that had all the potential of a successful blockbuster but ends up failing miserably in its attempt to personify its characters (despite spending huge chunks of useless screen time to develop each characters backstory UNSUCCESSFULLY). At the end of the movie I couldnt help but ask if they really needed to go into the backstory for EACH character, when not a single one of them progresses the story line by any means. This movie is way too long and in a bad way. Dark Knight flew by...The watchman reminds you every few minutes that you're sitting in a movie theater with uncomfortable chairs paying for entertainment that does not live up to its hype by any means. In short...its too long...there are too many stories tied together (reminds me of Spiderman 3) and action sequences which are kick A@# but way few and far in between.

I know im not the only one who feels this way, I was in a theater full of diehard Watchman fans and there were several Boo's when the credits rolled.

Well that does it! I was on the fence but now I have to see it at the theater. I'll try to sit next to some little kid that was towed in by his dumbazz'd parent and every time there's a wang or something else adult-orientated I'm going to elbow him and ask if he saw that!

hmmmm.....lets see here, what are the signs watchmen could be explicit...

- rated R for nudity, violence, language, gore, sex????

- based off of a Graphic Novel that has mature issues such as rape in it.

- based off a Graphic Novel that has a big, blue naked dude in it.

- made from the same guy who did 300.

its not the dark knight 2 and I have never felt it was marketed like that.

I think that the reviewer never read the graphic novel, otherwise she'd realize how certain graphic scenes she highlighted as bad are pivotal to the story and personailities of each character. So psyched for this film!

P.S. I agree that anyone who takes their child to this is a moron, but anyone else who is of age to see this isn't a moron.

Definitely buying it now. =)

Still wish the ending hadn't changed but that Zack kept in this stuff makes up for it and then some.

Well I have now changed my mind about taking my 10 year old son to see the movie. I had heard that it has violence in it but he has seen a few violent movies.

But after reading all that I am not taking him. I may not even go see it now.

"A few lines of dialogue by the character "Rorschach" deriding "liberals and intellectuals" doesn't excuse the nearly three hours of poison here. "

Alright, now that I know where this mouth breather is coming from, I can completely disregard everything she has to say...

I've seen enough "Most Conservative Movies Ever" lists to know that for the most part right wingers put pretty much every good movie that doesn't have homosexuals in it on thost lists, I even saw "Brazil" on one I swear.

The Matrix... You see, the "matrix" represents socialism and neo is the free market.

Iron Man.... You see Tony Stark's attitude before seeing what his weapons do represents socialism, and his epiphony and building the Iron Man suit is like building the free market....

Lord of the Rings.... Alright, get this. Sauron is socialism.......

Some on the right are claiming this is a conservative movie because it's made by some of the same people as "300" (read my review). But this is no "300."
Confuses me greatly.

I don't seem to recall that 300 was 'conservative' any more than it was 'liberal' or 'libertarian' it was a movie about half nekkid guys going out and defending their country by killing folks who wanted to eat their faces.

Sometimes a cigar is just a pen... er... cigar.

i know many conservatives who love to say 300 is a conservative movie due to its freedom in the west vs. opression by the Persians (modern day Iranians) theme.

similar views on the dark knight also.

personally, i don't see them, but i see how some people may.

rorschach is clearly conservative and i can see how initially people may see this as conservative as he is viewed more or less as the main person. but the story has little political message, its not like its V.

Did you ever see the movie "Irreversible" with Monica Belucci?

Boy the raping scene was disturbing..

Anyway, I never read the Watchmen graphic novel, it this is close to the source material I see now why people talked about it that much... I might go see this one this weekend
