Pretty steep, indeed. Wow.

+1....there is so much to digest that I feel a second viewing would do me a lot of justice and make me appreciate the movie more.

Default Great movie, never read the graphic novel.

Once is enough for me, I might see it again once it appears at cheap seat theaters.

Wow, I thought I was being pretty conservative saying it'd make $180 million! More than V For Vendetta, less than 300, but damn, this is... bad.

I did not see it this past weekend although I almost did on Saturday, think I'm going to wait for the BD.

I may see it again in theaters but I'm really waiting for the Blu ray with a director's cut.

I know everyone is allowed their opinion, but IMO this movie is mind bogglingly (is that a word?) awesome. I plan on seeing it for the third straight weekend, pending a doctors appointment. Either way, I think I shall see this again. Love the movie and can't wait for both blu-ray releases.

Just saw this for the third time Sunday with my 54 year old dad. He read the novel (which I let him borrow, he's a huge sci fi nut) and enjoyed it. He really liked the movie and we spent about a half an hour discussing it afterwards. He even thought the ending made more sense than the book.

That was the first movie we watched together in the theater since Ghostbusters 2.

I saw it twice and I definitely felt like a more complete experience with the second viewing.

Watchmen continues it's downward spiral.

1. Knowing (Summit) OPENER [3,332 Theaters] Fri $8.8M, Wkd est $25M
2. I Love You, Man (DW/Paramount) OPENER [2,711] Fri $6.2M, Wkd est $18.5M
3. Duplicity (Universal) OPENER [2,575] Fri $4.6M, Wkd est $14.3M
4. Witch Mountain (Disney) Week 1 [3,187] Fri $3.7M (-45%), Wkd est $14M
5. Watchmen (Warner Bros) Week 3 [3,510] Fri $2M, Wkd est $7M
6. Last House (Rogue/Uni) Week 2 [2,403] Fri $1.9M, Wkd est $6.1M
7. Taken (Fox) Week 8 [2,661] Fri $1.3M, Wkd est $4.3M

If these numbers hold, it still won't hit $100 million until mid to late week next week. It has made $50 million international of which is split $4 million to Fox, $12.5 million goes to Paramount and WB gets $33.5 million. Of it's US take, Fox is about at $8 million.

There's an article about the posibility of WB not doing any R rated comic adaptations in the future. You can read it here: WB Puts a Stop to R-rated Superhero Films

I don't think that the issue is with making an R rated Superhero movie. I think that the issue is the large amount of male nudity during the majority of the film. Its difficult for people to get past or even understand it if they do not read the comic first. I've read a lot of reviews that just call this movie a soft-core porn.

I think that if they did it with a lot less nudity (particularly male), then it would of done better at the box office.

I bought the motion comic the other day since I'm a watchmen freak, and it had the movie cash. Probably go watch it again tonight.
