Honestly, I think I would have liked it enough if the Kubrick original didn't exist. It wasn't awful, it simply pales in comparison to the classic version. On it's own, it's an entertaining enough little made-for-TV mini IMO.

Oh, and as for the Talisman, I could have sworn that was being made. I'm too lazy to look it up though.

Probably one of the few times you will hear me say the words "remake" and "I'm interested in this" in the same sentence.

Excluding Pennywise (Mr. Curry), I was really never a huge fan of the mini-series. I read the book first (and maybe THAT killed it), but it just never did it for me. I never though it was very well done; way too watered down.

That being said, I'm not sure how they'll get it done in theaters, either. But we'll see.

Worst news I've heard today. Can't wait until Monday to hear what other great remakes they can come up with. Seriously, is Hollywood not even bothering to come up with original ideas anymore?

See, I think this is a different situation as the story has never been adapted for the big screen before. If they can find a way to condense the story that actually works, I'm curious to see the results.

I haven't really liked any of the Mick Garris King movies, it seems he has never been able to secure a budget higher than $12.50.

I would have complete faith in this project if Frank Darabont was helming. Now THAT would be awesome.

What was the reason for this sequence to even occur in the book? When I read it, I was thinking, where the hell is this coming from!?

IT as a theatrical performance ? what, like a Broadway thing ? A Musical ?
How do you translate horror on stage ? I'm confused.

Theatrical as in the movie theater.

As for horror on stage, there was an "Evil Dead: The Musical." Always wanted to see that.

Was wondering when this was going to happen. I've enjoyed the mini-series, but I'm one of the people who will be cautiously optimistic about a movie adaptation. It will be interesting to see what they do with a bigger budget and to see if they can correct the mistakes that made the 2nd half of the mini-series not as enjoyable as the first half.

I liked the miniseries, but Kings books just cannot be done complete justice as an ABC miniseries. It cheapens them somehow. I read awhile ago that there was a possibility of IT being turned into 2 movies, but I had a feeling that would never happen. I'm more than willing to give it a chance but an epic novel like that will suffer as a 2 hour movie, no matter what. The person with the HBO miniseries idea is right on. I think 4, 2 hour episodes would work much better and honestly, I think the story is worthy of that. If they can give "Mildred Pierce" (which I read in a day) 5 1/2 hours, why not take on a story like this?

haven't read the novel but do own the miniseries and i don't know how you would make it into a movie unless you did a 3 hour + one. even with doing 2 movies, you need some sort of ending as well as a hook and i just don't know what you could use to end the first movie what completes it yet still makes people want to come back and see a second movie. it just seems like a lot of material to fit into a movie.

There's something oddly appropriate about necrobumping a thread about a Stephen King story.
