However, before they do any of that, I'd like it if they could fix the current Ultimate Genesis Collection to actually have everything it should have in the first place! ![]() Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Sonic & Knuckles are all included on it, and you can play them all individually. BUT for some really stupid reason, there is no way to simulate the "lock-on technology" that Sonic & Knuckles featured to connect with the previous games to play "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" and "Knuckles in Sonic 2". This is so stupid that it's beyond all rational thought. EVERY previous compilation of these Sonic games included the option to play the 'lock-on' versions (Sonic Jam for Saturn, The collections that came out for the PC, and the Sonic Mega Collection for Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox). The supposed excuse that this was not included on these discs is partly the time by which they wanted to get the game out, and partly that the 'lock on technology' requires its own emulation and to include it on the disc, it would have taken up too much space and other games from the collection would have to be removed..... are you friggin kidding me? That's the worst excuse EVER. For one thing, I don't even see why they need to emulate the 'lock-on technology', itself. They could just program it so the end resulting combined games that are created from linking the two original carts together are just their own emulated ROM or whatever on the disc (I know this is possible, because there are unofficial emulator roms of these games that do exactly that). Plus, you mean to tell me that they were able to fit this stuff onto one of those mini gamecube discs, but somehow a Blu-Ray disc for PS3 can't handle it? Even if we want to argue that the game was made to be ported to both PS3 and 360 and be the same on both, fine, but these are 13 - 20 year old games, and pretty much all 2D games as far as I know! There's no reason why this stuff can't all fit on the disc and STILL include this other Sonic related stuff. Seriously Sega.... What the hell?? |
