I was even at a barside table with the high chairs and got the hand on thigh once because i was sitting like an ill mannered buffoon.

i still remember during one of my birthday dinners my dad kept "playfully grabbing" at the waitress while my mom was there. she was so confused and uncomfortable...as was my mom....well it was the most awkward moment of my life

what about appliance delivery people?

last time I had a washer dryer delivered I gave them $20 for 2 guys. it only took them about 15 minutes total to unload and hook them up

that's always tough for me...i had a bed delivered and couldn't decide how much to tip

ended up doing 20 as well both for guys.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when he asks if you should tip the guy who delivers the firewood. lol

I tip all delivery guys that come here. Depending on how fast they get here.

i always tip the cute car hops at sonic. i never tip the ugly ones. i know it's wrong.

at regular restraunts i always tip tho. so please if you're an ugly waiter please don't pm me you'll still get a tip.... unless you work at sonic.

Im a cook at a restaurant.

I dont expect people to tip but come on these people dont make a regular wage and some yeah do count on tips for bills and whatnot. The whole not tipping on take out orders...... well we (the cooks) make things for take out and the tip goes directly to us cooks where i work. So when people leave money for take-out its nice , we bust our ass too!

I guess you have to work in the food industry to understand.

i tip all the time. but i thought i'd leave my .02 i think in a lot of cases that i have seen. the cook or the bus boy deserve the tip more than the waiter/waitress.

some people that have a bad attitude and hate their life, shouldn't wait on people.

I agree wholeheartedly with the OP.

Bad Service = No Tip
Good Service = Tip
Great Service = Big Tip

On average I tip approx 95% of the time as I find it rare that I encounter horrible service that warrants no tip. However I have not tipped at least 10 times.

I completely agree seems most waiters/waitresses are miserable always and seem to be in the wrong business . My restaurant included we have some pretty unhappy servers and im surprised they make any money. I feel bad for some customers!! im generally very friendly since its an open kitchen.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with tipping takeout orders.

I don't see where some of you are saying that waiters don't make regular wages. I currently co own & manage a restaurant and foodservice business and our waitstaff all make at least minimum wage. They are quite aware that the amount of tips they receive is based on the quality of their service. Granted there are some cheapskates out there. As a manager I have an idea of about how much each waiter averages per tip. My best waiters tend to make the best tips while I have a couple of waiters who I consider lackluster that don't make as much in tips as my top waiters.

Personally when I eat out the minimum I leave 15% regardless of the service. If the service is above standard then I leave more.

Baristas make the most tips off of me as I usually tip anywere from $1 to $3 for a $3.50 latte.
