If people would quite going to see all these remakes and let them fail at the box office Hollywood might stop making them. But as long as the generate revenue the producers and studios will take "the easy way out."

I'm officially placing a curse on both of these movie that every one involved, especially George Clooney will meet with future career failure...bwwaahahahahaha.

Sorry, I can't jump on the no-remakes band wagon. I'd like to wait until I actually see them to decide. Ya never know, maybe these remakes will be as good as Ben-Hur, The Magnificent Seven, The Maltese Falcon, The Departed, 3:10 to Yuma, The Thing, The Fly, King Kong, True Lies, The Man Who Knew Too Much, The Ring, Insomnia, A Fistful of Dollars...

It's possible.

Default Poltergeist Remake.

Hey,

A TERRIBLE IDEA, IMO.

A Re-make is set, its got a a release date.

Quote:
For the last year now, we’ve been hearing rumblings of a Poltergeist remake over at MGM. Last August we told you that the studio had hired Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, the team behind the modern horror classic (sarcasm) Boogeyman to write the screenplay. And we soon after learned that House of Sand and Fog director Vadim Perelmen was in talks to helm the unnecessary remake.

But until a release date is announced, I sometimes tend to convince myself that these projects could easily find their way into the depths of development hell. Until there is a production start, or a release date, the movie really doesn’t exist. Well, I have some bad news. MGM has announced a release date. According to Shock, the “studio” has slated the haunted house remake for November 24th 2010. No further details have been released at this time.

ENJOY.

ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that MGM's planned remake of Tobe Hooper's classic '80s haunted house movie Poltergeist has received a release date of November 24, 2010, Thanksgiving weekend.

Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) has been attached to direct since last September.

The original was produced and co-written by Steven Spielberg. Two sequels were produced.

I thought The Birds had already been remade, but I don't see anything but the original on IMDB. Am I mistaken?

I am with you on this. I don't know about a re-made version of the Birds movie.

It appears that every single movie ever made is been remade. All those Hollywood types get paid for using old ideas?!

+1 remakes bothers me. Dune, Birds, Superman etc... the list goes on. What about something original for a change.

you're thinking about a made for Showtime "sequel" that I believe came out
in the early to mid nineties. It had Tippi Hedren in it in small role and I can't
remember who the leads were. It was an "okay" flick....

I'm not saying a remake of Poltergeist can't be good. I just can't fathom a single reason to remake it.

Dear God. How depressing. Although the Birds sucked so I don't care about that one.

Ugh, Poltergeist is one of the great horror films that cannot be made better by a watered down remake. Pass. I will watch the original any day, I don't care how good the new one will be.

If I don't like the idea of a remake...I just won't see it. On the other hand, ten years down the road after the inevitable second hemorrhaging of Hollywood originality I'm pretty sure I'll see the remakes that will be done of the remakes.

I cannot imagine this remake is going to be any good if they have not begun filming and it has a November 24th release date.

This is blasphemy!
Man I am getting tired of the remakes. Especially movies that still work, like Poltergeist and The Birds (a numerous others). Can't people come up with their own ideas!?!?

Sad but true. And you are probably talking about 85% of people on here. You know...the one's that prefer ID4 over CE3K.

I repeat what I stated on another thread.......
You cannot remake a Classic no matter how hard you try , and most remakes don't even properly try to be better , only a money grab from a new generation that doesn't know any better. Improved special effects etc don't improve a movie ,but hey I can't wait for Tom Cruise and Megan Fox to remake "The African Queen"

Ok so 3:10 to Yuma was ok , PQ was ok on King Kong , but overall I stand by my statement when Im not.......

IF, they're going to to do a re-make of The Birds, then I think, that I, personally, would like Paris Hilton to play the 'Tippi Hedron' role of Melanie Daniels. really
