Hello,

Both are US releases (Severin Films is a newcomer; there will be a few other small companies that you will see releasing on Blu-ray in addition to them shortly - KINO, etc). So, no importing is needed here, and in fact Severin's UK branch isn't planning British releases for these at the moment.

Well I just got off the phone with an Amazon rep and she assured me they would ship in May. She said that means they can get their hands on them from their distributor in May and ship them a full 2 months early. I'm pretty sure this can't be right, so I asked her if I was guaranteed to receive them in May and she said "Yes, I guarantee you will receive your order in May". She then said, "we're sorry about the delay in your order". D'oh!!! So I asked her to forward it on and get clarification, since the release date is set on the website as 2005, and neither of them were even out on DVD at that point, not to mention neither were any Blu-rays. So I said "what happens when May 29 rolls around and it hasn't shipped because it isn't going to be released for another 2 months!" and she once again said "you will receive it in May, because we can get our hands on it from a distributor in time to ship it then". We'll see, lol.

I know it looks horrible! I am hoping they had an issue with the preview disc he had.. Gary said he was gonna contact the company to see... but if that is their release for the film. I won't be buying that BD at all.

I sold off my 3 Disc Special Edition of the film a while back because I figured the BD would be better... let this be my lesson. haha.

There are a couple of producers who have complained about the accuracy of DVDBEAVER's screencaps (not casual readers), so I definitely would not judge what the quality of the Blu-ray disc is based on his caps. From what I could see there the DVD has been contrast boosted enormously. In any event, Mr. Somner will have our review for the film up shortly.

So, is this movie (the original) any cool? I love the title and I wonder if I may see it tomorrow. I just LOVE the poster art for Tarantino's re-make, but I'm no Tarantino fan...

But the title and Tarantino's re-make poster made me curious...

I personally love it. Although if you're not a Tarantino fan, you may not like it, as it's got that same sort of vibe. It's a lot like Dirty Dozen, except not as famous of actors.

Saw it, and I didn't like it... I see why people love it, but it just wasn't for me. I love the old W.I.P. and nazi exploitation movies, and this had some moments that reminded me of those (the naked girls with machine guns in particular).

Will see Tarantino's re-make.

After reading the review on this site I might have to upgrade (I still have the VHS, under the name Deadly Mission

).

I agree I prefer the colors less boosted. Not washed out, mind you; just given an even color palette that matches the print I saw ages ago at an L.A. art house theater. Plus, it's a little more '70's.

I'm not quite sure what to make of the discrepancy between DVDBeaver and the screen caps on this site. The ones here look 1000x better.

The sound on it will never be that great because like 'The Good, the Bad and The Ugly' they did the sound after filming, so it has that same tinny sound, and The Inglorious Bastards was done on an even tighter budget.

Up the Irons!!!
