Disney Platinums, up till now, have been locked but their other titles vary. Bug's Life is region free - if anyone is interested.

That's because every Pixar catalog title has been region free. Since the Japanese import of Monsters, Inc. is also region free, I guess/hope it will stay that way.
I also hope this rumor about Oliver and Company is true. Not only for the film itself, but it will probably pave the way to other Disney films as well.

looks like this won't be blu-ray.. only DVD version. Meanwhile our Spanish version is releasing the Metalbox DVD edition of this classic

It looks like that. It disappeared from the releaselist.

It's a pity Disney does not bring out more animated movies on blu.

Disney can do whatever they want with blu-ray. They generally have phenomenal transfers, regardless of a movie's age or source material. The only complaint I really have is their high prices but you can't have everything, I guess.
