Rumor: PS3 Motion Sensing Remote Completed - Waggle in HD??

I really hope this is not true, but I know the leadership at Sony and Microsoft want to capture "the casual gamer." Unfortunately, this will result in people paying $59 for PS3 or 360 shovelware, instead of the traditional $49 price for Wii shovelware.

For tennis and golf games this is great, I wouldn't use it for anything else... Maybe another bowling game too.

Wii sports is the only game I still play for the Wii... I bought so many games and played them maybe once. I've learned my lesson and won't be buying so many stupid little games if Sony really comes out with this controller.

Not sure how I feel about this...If it is real I would buy it, but not sure how much I would use it. I already have a wii and pretty much only play mario kart. And when I play MK i don't use the wii wheel. I play w/ the nunchuck like a reg. controller. I still prefer the good old controller.

Also I dont think I wanna see cooking mama cook off (or whatever it is called) come to the ps3. There are so many crappy wii games that devs just throw out hoping they will stick w/ customers. And the same thing would probably happen, we would have alot of gimmicky games that are crap.

Will I buy it, of course and see how I like it. I gues it would depend on how it is used. I will be buying wii motion plus, so here is to hoping it is good and used well.

I'd actually buy a cooking mama game.. I like it my son plays it a lot.. lol.. haha. I'm also getting diner dash if we ever get that!

I want it to be split. Games for that and regular games. I just don't want to see a wii-effect happen to ALL ps3 games.

I guess that's all i'm saying.

Hmm seems intresting. Don't think I will get it until the price drops though cause even after playing the wii at a friends house I already got bored of the gimmick. And I mostly play games on my PC anyway. I only get console exclusives or PS3 exclusives on it anyway.

Even if true, if it doesn't come with the system base, it'll be like the Eye or a light-gun or a dance pad. Not enough people will have the device to make it relevant.

Sony's much rumored motion sensing controller for the Playstation 3 is real and it will likely be unveiled at E3.

That's what I've been hearing from several sources, one of whom has seen the device and two of whom are familiar with Sony's plans to show it at E3 next month.

Rumors that Sony will come out with a motion sensing device have abounded for over two years, ever since a patent was first reported on in January of 2007.

A good source saw a working prototype several months ago that largely fit what was in the patent. Sony's controller apparently used LEDs (light emitting diodes, essentially little electric light sources) and a small webcam to track the device's movements. Because the camera can read different color lights and the shape and angle of each light, it's much more accurate than the Wii-mote. It can track precise movements, including along the Z axis (pushing toward and away from the TV; something the Wii is really bad at) as well as velocity.

As Kombo.com reported last month, Sony is apparently reaching out to select developers and publishers to get some early software coming.

I'm not sure when the device will be unveiled (later this year or mid-next year, I'd think given the E3 timing) or what software will initially be available. Or even what it will look like (the prototype apparently looks kinda funky with a bulb to house the LEDs on the end). But apparently we'll find out the answers soon.

It will be the second new product shown by Sony at E3, if 1UP's report about a new PSP that will only play downloadable content proves accurate.

A Sony rep declined to comment.

well that really falls on the devs now doesnt it .. the app is there now hte game makers need to utilize it ..

Sounds good but the standard PS3 controllers we have now also detect motion to a limited extend..

Developper doesnt seems to offer much support on those type of device, like the guncon, the playsation eye, the motion sensor on the ds3...

This is a simple choice for developers:

Use it extensively and hope that enough people bother to buy the device and make your investment in it worthwhile, or save yourself the hassle and the development money and ignore it.

99% of developers make the "ignore it" choice, and who can blame them? You'd be villified if you released the game for 5$ more than normal to cover the development costs.

Its usefulness depends on the software available. Get it right and Playstation could a hit like Wii Fit (pointless software that sells by the truck load) on its hands.

I've got the Playstation Eye and the only thing I've used it with is Burnout Paradise for mugshots and smugshots. £25 well spent there
