I remember seeing their 82" LCOS a few years ago. VERY nice TV, but I think it was like 15k or thereabouts. That thing was a MONSTER!

Edit: Excuse me, 21k when they came out. Here's the review from S&V if anybody's interested. Places online are selling them for around $5700 now. Crazy how the prices fall on these technologies.

Mitsubishi made LCoS displays? I though it was mainly JVC teritory.

As for the size, it doesn't dwarf my 96 inch draper screen, let alone my Dakane 165 inch screen, but for a television, that is huge and eats my samsung, well as long as it has those accurate colors of the samsung.

Here is the question--will standard def look terrible on it due to its size?

probably not terrible...... but if that is your concern.... buy a 19" tube tv for $100 off craigslist........

Standard Def material doesn't look AS GOOD on my FP @ 106" compared to my 37" LCD or 32" LCD, but I still greatly prefer to watch them on the big screen....... I'll compromise some detail etc. (it's the same picture.... but you obviously see more flaws because it's displayed so much larger) for the huge image.

new sets with new technology but NO LED lighting - c'mon Mits...you are the only one left making RPTVs now - give us something that we don't need to buy a bulb for every 2 years!

To my knowledge that was the only LCoS they made.

For $4,200, you could get a fantastic 1080p projector and a screen that would dwarf the size of that 80".
