Default Mitsubishi "3D ready" DLP

I have the WD-60735 3D ready TV.

Will this set plus the PS3 (with upgraded firmware) be enough for 3D?

I know that glasses and emitter will also be necessary.

I hope I do not have to buy another TV and blu ray player. If that is the case, I will be waiting for some time to adopt 3D.

EDIT: After doing some searching it seems that mitsubishi will be selling a converter box 3DC-1000 3D adapter to "switch those right/left images to the checkerboard format Mitsubishi uses"

So it looks like I may possibly be in the 3D mix after all without having to buy new tv and blu player....time will tell I guess.

From everything I have read, the ps3 is 3d compatible through firmware. The tv is capable, but you may need a converter box to work out the signal from the ps3 to the tv, but thats all. Those two components should work together for 3d.

I'm in the same boat. I bought my MITSUBISHI 73" DLP WD73736 Rear Projection, 3-D ready in April of 2009. Mine came with the emitter. Just waiting to hear what else I need besides the glasses and the Blu-Ray player.

I don't think these TVs are truly Blu-Ray 3D ready.

A local appliance chain ABC Warehouse had the 60" advertised for something like $900. According to the specs, and it has HDMI 1.3a compatibility. Blu-Ray 3D requires HDMI 1.4.

That is the exact thing that troubles me. But if the PS3 is not 1.4 compliant and can be upgraded via firmware to be 3D capable, I am hoping that solves the issue.

But the TV would still be only 1.3. Unless there's some kind of TV firmware update coming....

HDMI v.4 is required for 1080P 3D. The PS3 will only be capable of 1080i 3D at half-resolution (i.e. 540 X 1920). Therefore HDMI v.3 will suffice. And yes, I believe that Mitsubishi adapter will be required....I'm planning on getting one to go with my Sammy LED DLP.

Actually the news is better than that. The PS3 will provide 1080P/24 to both eyes after the two firmware updates. First update for 3D gaming in June or July to coincide with the intro of Sony's 3D TVs. The second later in the year for BDs.

http://www.playstationuniversity.com...-blu-ray-1770/

The downside is that the PS3 will probably not have a checkerboard mode. (won't know for sure until after the firmware updates) So, you will probably need the adaptor if you want to stick with your PS3. Still good news since the adaptor is rumored to cost only $100. Thats a lot better than paying for a new player that has a checkerboard output mode (the new panasonic for example)

For OP.

I own the Mitsubishi WD-73C9 I think is my model of 73" 3D ready DLP. I just got in the 3D kit the 3DC-1000 that converts other 3D formats to the checkerboard 3D format the TV uses. All hooked up through my PS3. Works like a charm. Kit comes with a 1.4 cable and I ordered one from firefold.com as well.

I found that the demo disc that came with the kit says it detects that no 3D compatible player has been found, but 3D game demos work just fine. Racing in 3D is pretty awesome and catch myself trying to duck and move out of the way of flying dirt or crashing car parts flying around.

How much did you pay for the 3DC-1000? I have seen them for $300-$400. I will wait till more titles come out in 3D before I get one.

According to Sony the PS3 will be doing full 1080p for 3D Blu-ray. They are doing a software update to bring the PS3 to comply with the 1.4 HDMI specifications for 3D. For games Sony has already implemented HDMI 1.4 through software and has decided to do all 3D games in 720p.
If you get the Mits adapter for 3D you will also need the Gefen device (programmed with the Mits EDID) to fool the Mits device to think it is connected to a Mits DLP.

However HDGuru 3D has stated according to industry sources their is likely to be a device similar to the Mits device that will be compatible with Samsung 3D DLP sets.

I searched for the Mitsubishi 3D adapter on Ebay and it listed the following 3D Ready compatible TV's and my dads TV wasnt one of them. Yet he still has a sticker on his TV that says 3D ready.

His model is the WD-65734. Can anyone else confirm it IS or ISNT 3D ready?

According to the reviews of this TV is should be able to use the 3D adapter. I think you need to call Mits to see if the omission was an accident.

Wouldn't a Panasonic 3D player work since it can output the checker board format the 3d ready DLP sets (both samsung and mit) require without an adapter?

Just use the the correct format (checker board) and correct HDMI input and you should be good to go.

Yes, the Panasonic player does that. I have the adapter to use on my directv box and ps3.
