I'm not sure if any of you wrote emails to the addresses I listed before, but I finally got a response from them:
"At this time there is nothing on the schedule for a blu-ray release of season 2 nor a different packaging on the standard set of season 2" The last part of that was because I asked if it would be released in any form other than that skull. I guess I'll have to buy it and then a bunch of DVD cases for them *sigh*. No blu anytime soon ![]() |

That blows. It's likely to do with Anchor Bay being purchased by Starz. Lately they seem to be releasing films that have more mass appeal, but what they don't realize is that Anchor Bay achieved legendary status for releasing the great horror films so many of us grew up with. If they release some better movies, their blu-rays will perform better.
I have to imagine Hellraiser sold pretty well - it is a cult film that looks great in hi-def and has a good set of extras. |

I guess that's it for the inofficial third season too, right? (a.k.a. "Fear Itself").
It won't even come out on DVD this year, but it seems we can rule out BD completely then. That sucks. ![]() |

Looks like Fear Itself will be coming to DVD after all. Digital Bits has the details. It will actually include the unaired episodes and a few of them will be director's cuts. No BD, oh well.

It's a shame Season Two never materialised on Blu, but Anchor Bay didn't do themselves any favours with the way they handled the Season One Blu-rays of "Masters of Horror" - splitting it across 4 separate volumes, and stripping off all of the (excellent and in-depth) extras apart from the audio commentaries. I'm glad I own the Season One discs, but they certainly weren't the definitive throw-away-your-DVDs releases that they should have been, due to the sad loss of the extras.
And then, of course, they did that daft "skull" packaging for Season Two on DVD... Luckily, in the UK, we got the Season Two MOH DVDs split into 2 sensibly-packaged box-sets - that's the version I eventually bought, after giving up on ever seeing a Blu-ray release. If they based the viability of a Blu-ray release of Season Two on the sales of the Blu-rays of Season One, and the DVD set of Season Two, then that's a real shame because with both of those releases it's as if they did everything they possibly could to discourage people from buying them. Even now, I'd gladly pay up for sensibly-priced, sensibly-packaged Blu-ray complete box-sets of MOH S2 + Fear Itself. Hell, I'd even double-dip on a Complete MOH S1 Blu-ray set if they included all the extras this time - even if the extras were only SD. |

I was going through a box of dvds and found all my season 2 individual releases. I'm actually still quite pissed that these never got any blus. Right to Die is one hell of an episode and pelts was wicked. Since I prefer to have each episode seperate, I decided to order the black editions of Pelts, Cigarette Burns and Haeckle's Tale from Germany on blu. Anyone know if others are being planned for release?

Yeah, I got my two favorite episodes from season 2 -- The Black Cat and Sounds Like. Unfortunately, they're BD-Rs. Here's the weird thing -- neither will play on my old Sony Region A player. However, I think it's because they're BD-Rs, not because they're not region free. Both will play on my Oppo player set for Region A. I was pretty upset to find they were BD-Rs, but the picture quality is a nice upgrade from the DVDs, so I decided to keep them.

![]() I'm US/Region A. They will play on my crappy Dynex $50 player, but not on my Playstation 3 or Xbox ONE. Actually, the disc will load up on the PS3 without any region warnings, and even plays a promotional splash screen, but then the it just hangs on a black screen and wont go to the menu/content. Agree that the PQ is not bad at all. And they include the extras (tho all the extras seem to be SD). Trying to decide if I should splurge for the whole season. Doubtful they will ever get a US release. Is there a bluray release of FEAR ITSELF in ANY region? |

I feel your pain.
My problems is... I don't remember them well enough to know which ones to revisit. I picked up Black Cat, because that was the only one I could remember liking for certain. Reading user reviews of these episodes across the internet doesn't help either. But it is a fascinating exercise. People's tastes about this show are all over the board. Most episodes on TV.com have numerous simultaneous 1.0 and 10.0 reviews. I would like to watch them all again with an open mind... since shows like this often improve with age. But the price tag to get these from Spain is astronomical. So... I am stuck. I think I will try my luck with Right To Die, Sounds Like, Pelts, Screwfly Solution, and Washingtonians... and hope for a decent mix. I remember not really caring for Family... but it is the highest rated episode of season 2. So. There you go. ![]() My faves from season one were Imprint, Cigarette Burns, Dreams in the Witch House.... for what it's worth. Last edited by ShirleyFilms; 05-06-2016 at 06:55 AM. |

Loved this series...hit and miss but the hour format and the great directors were a nice fit.
Season one favorites: Incident on and off a Mountain Road (favorite of the whole series) Cigarette Burns (runner up of season one and whole series) Deer Woman Jenifer Pick Me Up Season two: The Damned Thing Pro-life (Carpenter swayed me on this, it's not his best) The Screwfly Solution (favorite of season two) Valerie Under the Stairs The Washingtonians (runner-up of season two) Fear itself was a neutered MOH but still entertaining. |
