Season 2 of Masters Of Horror was a HUGE improvement over the first season. Out of the 13 episodes only 1 or 2 were "duds", while the first Season only had 1 or 2 strong episodes out the of the 13. I've read numerous times that the 1st Season Blu-ray releases sold very poorly which has discouraged Anchor bay/Starz from releasing the 2nd (and final) season on BD.
I agree - "The Black Cat" was superb television. Let's not forget "Family" which was a lot of fun. I also really liked "We All Scream For Ice Cream" and "Sounds Like". Last edited by Rhoq; 04-10-2009 at 02:50 PM. |

I havent seen any of the 2nd season so I would like to see these hit blu ray as well. I have the first season on DVD and have always thought of upgrading it. I really like the first season, I liked a lot more than just one or two, I thought only 1 or 2 were duds actually. Now I just read the blu ray review that went up today to learn that they are all only 1080i which I didnt know. But if they didnt sell too well I highly doubt we will get anything better than that.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. But I have written them (Anchor Bay) an email previously about the release of this product and never even got a response. At least they could have said no. But I figured I'd post the email address here... if enough people write them, who knows. It worked for Family Guy and Futurama! Haha.
DL-TRY-Horror@Starz.com for the Horror contacts DL-TRY-TVonDVD@Starz.com for TV on DVD suggestions@anchorbayent.com for suggestions on future releases (no replies given) questions@anchorbayent.com for General Questions. Write them all! Annoy them! Maybe they'll give a satisfying response, haha |

Anchor Bay/Starz doesn't seem to be in any hurry to release ANYTHING on Blu-ray, period. They have such an incredible catalog of horror titles but they're only pushing out one every, what, 9 months or so? Very disappointing.
So, annnnnyway... I'd definitely buy MOH SEASON 2. Good stuff! |

I picked up Season 2 on DVD because I got a super deal on it. Back when Hellraiser first came out on Blu-ray, Amazon was running a BOGO on Anchor Bay DVD's. I bought MH-Season 2 and got the Hellraiser Puzzlebox (which also contains the BD) for free. Since I was going to buy the Hellraiser set anyway, I couldn't pass up that deal.
I would rather have gotten Masters of Horror on Blu, but after having watched it upconverted now, I don't think I would double dip on it. The DVD's look fine upconverted. The skull case can be a problem though. It looks like it would be prone to scratching the disks. I slipped in some of that thin sheeting that kinda looks like styrofoam between the disks in order to secure them better. You can cut that stuff easily to make it fit. |

Also, what about Fear Itself? That was from the same creators of Masters of Horror. I think Lionsgate produced those instead of Anchor Bay. The series didn't even finish its run last summer and there a supposedly a few unaired episodes. I don't even think they released this on DVD.

They seem to have pulled back even from releasing new titles on dvd unless they are proven moneymakers like Halloween. It looks like their early Blu-ray releases were possibly subsidized as a result of the format war. When that money dried up they became very cautious in releasing catalog titles on Blu-ray. I would not expect to see the second season of this show on Blu-ray from them.

Let's hope someone at Anchor Bay read all the threads here at blu-ray.com that asks for more titles from them... ![]() |
