(don't start an argument about skinheads here I was just giving the reason why I see american history X as a classic)

if ''classics'' is simply meant as OLD films then just say old.

some old one's i'd like to see are:

once upon a time in the west
the quiet man
ten commandments
ben hur
lawrence of arabia
outlaw josey wales
citizen kane
chariots of fire

and some classics that aren't old:

hunt for red october
american history x
lock stock.....
snatch
braveheart
slc punk
gladiator
the wind that shakes the barley
pan's labirynth (probably wrong spelling)
batman (michael keaton)
edwars scissorhands
lion king
finding nemo (best pixar movie by far)

If you liked American History X alot that's fine, I enjoyed it too,but there is other films that are better.A Classic is a film that is so well made,it's timeless,it'll never get old no matter what year it comes out in,Being old doesn't define classic, old is old. Gone With The Wind,Wizard Of Oz,Casablanca,The Godfather,Citizen Kane are all classic films that will be remembered forever. Do you understand?

the point I was trying to make was that what makes a classic is very hard to define and thus almost impossible to exclude films. persoally I don't care for casablanca but the other films you mentioned are up there. a lot of people really like A.H. X and feel it is timeless and there are some who don't. but with lists like this its real easy to let it degenerate into arguing over what is classic and what is not.

guess my input really is what made it an argument. so i'll let it go now.

some other classics:

big country
american graffiti
pappilon (horrible spelling)
the man who shot liberty valance
to kill a mockingbird

Most of Hitchcock's work from Rear Window on, was done with Universal, it might be a long wait. This includes Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Warner holds a good amount of his films too so there might be some hope for that soon.

honestly while i do want to see the classic movies, i would rather see the newer movies. like finding nemo, shrek etc. i just think the PQ would be a bit better on the newer ones which i like.

Default Bring on the Black and White Monsters

Dr. Strangelove (Peter Sellers) and Citizen Kane. The visual fidelity of BR and a nicely done B/W film would be AMAZING . . .

Honorable Mention: Paper Moon . . ..
