Most likely the movie will be very bad. It'll probably make money as they'll cast a bunch of young people to appeal to that demographic.

It could happen. Not one but if a group of countries decided we shouldnt be the big boy on the block nomore it could happen. With a weaken economy and most of our troops fighting 2 other wars, it could happen but doubt it ever would. It does sound like a great movie if you ask me...

I loved red dawn when I was younger but havent bothered to watch it lately. Oh and I love my country and would be the first to defend it if need be. Just incase anyone takes my post out of text.

Josh Peck is a good choice. The Wackness proved he can act, and quite well too.

Maybe if the other countries could sneak past our radar, AWAC's and missile systems with stealth cargo planes, I guess it could happen....

In movies anything can happen, HAHAHA...

But seriously, I am sure our gov. and homeland security are not taking any chances after 9/11 and have complete faith in them. But could you imagine what could of happen if the terrorist had a more complex plan. They could of stunned us then went in for the sweep.
without going overboard with this, I could only just imagine. but thats what movies are made of. damn I need to start writing this stuff down...

Yeah - I think it will be like Transformers, which I didn't like very much. They might make it a legit action movie but lose a lot of the campiness or spirit of the original. I mean, Red Dawn isn't even about WWIII - it's an 80s movie about a bunch of high school kids fighting Soviet soldiers!

Star Trek was an example of a good remake apparently, but 90% of remakes don't work. It takes impeccable source material to pull one off (Star Trek's story, the James Bond Legacy, the Batman comic). I don't think Red Dawn's plot is the stuff good remakes are made of.

I have not seen the original since 1985 I think, I only saw it once, never wanted to see it again.

Looking at the cast it feel's more like Red Dawn Highschool Musical Hey! It could work.

They should use Canadians. Have them carry hockey sticks and chainsaw and bomb the Baldwins

Arrow Tony Gilroy rewriting MGM's RED DAWN!

Now this little tidbit made me raise an eyebrow. My interest in this movie just went up a few points.

Quote:
On the heels of yesterday's casting announcements, Latinoreview has exclusively learned that Tony Gilroy, the oscar nominated writer/director of Michael Clayton (and one of my top five favorite all time screenwriters) has come aboard to rewrite MGM/UA's remake of RED DAWN!

Not surprising considering that Dan Bradley, the director of the remake, was the 2nd unit director of the Jason Bourne films which Gilroy penned.

Gilroy has recently delivered a 107 page draft dated 06-01-09. The remake was penned by Carl Ellsworth and Jeremy Passmore and based on the 1984 Cold War-era film co-written and directed by John Milius. We took a look at the Ellsworth/Passmore draft which you can watch HERE.

The story is about a group of teenagers who form an impromptu insurgency when their town is invaded by Chinese and Russian soldiers.

Set to begin filming in September, the film is scheduled to hit theaters Sept. 24, 2010.

Ever heard the joke on Canada invading another country?

Imagine the president of the country being invaded by Canada calling the UN

President : "UN! Help us please, Canada is invading us!"

UN : "Who did you say?"

President : "Canada, please help us hurry!"

UN : "Canada! Oh come on! Canada! Just play a hockey game with them, let them win they will leave you alone afterwards.

SDCC Exclusive: Kurt Russell in Talks for Red Dawn!

Quote:
ComingSoon.net exclusively learned today at the San Diego Comic-Con that Kurt Russell is talks to star in Red Dawn, the MGM remake scheduled for a September 24, 2010 release.

To be directed by Dan Bradley, the war film's cast includes Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek, upcoming Thor), Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki (upcoming Legion).

The original Red Dawn was the Cold War brainchild of writer-director John Milius, who devised a World War III invasion of America by the Soviets and Cubans. The film followed the scrappy insurgency of a group of Midwestern teenagers who take on their high school mascot name -- "Wolverines!" -- as a rallying cry of resistance.
I've always been a fan of Kurt Russell. If he jumps on board, that's as good as a ticket in hand for me.
