Sorry to hear about that Davidian. Hopefully this is just due to the amount of interest in this Steelbook product as of late. I'm sure they will get some back in stock soon but with the sales things are going quickly.

That is such a drag!

...does that mean that existing copies are rare and collectable?

Dont be so sure. This has happened before with this particular item and it has been re-pressed in the Steelbook Packaging so, I would wait and see

This item was in yesterdays "Top Blu-ray Deals and Price Drops‏" mail from Blu-Ray.com (£8.93 (was: £15.18)).

I ordered it (and 2 other titles to get past £25 so I could get free shipping to Sweden).

Today I got this mail from Amazon.co.uk:

-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-

I checked my order directly after I got the mail so I could cancel it since the other 2 items was only ordered at this time to get over £25... Guess what, they had entered shipping process and couldn't be cancelled!

The Highlander Steelbook can now be ordered for £16.99, thank you but no thanks...

Yeah. I read the review here about the 5.1 track that it was indeed all over the place, so I chose not to select that track. Random listens at least told me there was no improvement of any kind.
But there's no punch in the 2.0 track.
I mean, "LFE"? Lol...
It's like they removed all the bass from the track.
I don't know. This film gets mixed review from people and maybe it hasn't stood the test of time well.
When I first watched it I was a kid/teenager and I loved it and also I started to love Queen.
Now I was a little "meh" about some scenes, dialogues, effects, and all.
Still, it is one of the classics.
Like Willow, or perhaps even more than Willow.
Anyway, I'd love to see some serious work going into a remaster of this movie. Sometimes I tend to get a panicky feeling when classics (or really great but not that old movies) get a lesser treatment than they should.
Like "are they going to remaster this movie before it's too late?!".

I could list a few movies that I'd love to see remastered to perfection. If I had the money myself, I'd fund the projects.

Also noticed the extras mentioned below:
Quote:
- New interview with Russell Mulcahy
- New interview with Christopher Lambert
- ‘ Making of’ documentary in 4 parts
- Deleted scenes
- Audio commentary with Russell Mulcahy
- HD trailer
So, new interviews by Mulcahy and Lambert plus an HD trailer on top of the 4K master.

Rehashing the full 4-part doc that was exclusive to the Kinowelt DVD, the most likely non-audio deleted scenes from the previous release, the solo commentary by Mulcahy from the previous BD.

Not great but I'll take it. For a 30th anniversary I had expected a bit more. Of course, there is the off chance that extras could differ on a later Universal release and a possible NA Lionsgate one but I doubt it. Universal may very likely be the same disc as the last one was.

I just want them to remove the wires again from the final Quickening scene, as per the US Immortal Edition DVD. They have my money, regardless. Stupid 'Best Movie Ever Made'...

What are the chances that Studiocanal will also bring this out as an actual 4K UHD blu-ray title?

I've owned the original blu for years. It was pretty good (certainly better than the region 1 immortal edition, which is still one of the shoddiest transfers I've ever seen, despite being THX approved!), apart from an audio spot on the opening/Princes of the Universe title sequence (did anyone else have this problem or was it just my copy? The sound goes staticky for a brief moment). I'm pre-ordering this. Hopefully, it goes down in price between now and then, as £24.99 seems a bit steep.

This film is perfection, but they can **** off with that £25 price tag.

It's a bit steep, that's why I'm holding off pre-ordering and put a pricewatch on it. Even a HL nut as myself has his limits.

Yes on both counts. Love it to bits but I'm not paying that much for anything any more unless it's actually a 4K Blu-ray.
