It won't be the same without Nolan directing and Bale at the lead. Heh, Darren Aronofsky directing Batman! Darkest Batman yet? Maybe.

I really hope Nolan does the third installment and takes his time to get every little detail perfect. We don't want another X-men 3, Spiderman 3, Terminator 3, Robocop 3... hell just about any 3rd installment of any trilogy has been crap. So, whoever makes it needs to make sure they don't screw it up.
Yeah but on the other hand there has been many great trilogy's for instance star wars, Indiana Jones, back to the future, mission impossible, oceans 11...., pirates of the Caribbean, and more

You do not talk about "He who must not be named". By saying the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone quote, if and this back before I saw the trailer for I Love You, Beth Cooper, I would have said Chris Columbus who did the first two Harry Potter films but after I saw that trailer last week while watching Last House on the Left, that's a big NO!

Bale said he'd lock himself in his house and never come out if they brought Robin into the mix.

Robin would be a bad idea, but with proper story, they could bring in Dick Grayson I think. Would seem really stupid and irresponsible if Bruce allowed an underage Dick to fight crime at his side, but they could absolutely put Bruce in a fatherly position and have him just take in the orphaned boy.

i would love a Batman Beyond film down the road
and i'd even watch a Nightwing movie

just dont put robin in nolan's series
it just WOULDN'T work
plus Nolan himself said robin would never appear due to the fact that they are portraying a very early batman and robin shouldn't show up for years

Could this be a batman movie curse? First two great, director leaves, next two suck! Hope Nolan stays for at least one more. I say bring back Burton. I grew up with the Burton movies. All of them not just batman.

Burton left the franchise because WB no longer wanted him. He had ideas for Batman 3 but the reception and dark tone of the second film didn't bode well with the studio, so they dropped Burton.

I can't imagine WB making the same mistake here. There is no curse. WB were just too stupid to hang onto the talented people behind the camera, they made the same mistake with the Superman movies.

I wouldn't mind seeing an up and coming director take on the sequel.
A big time director will probably make the film more about himself and
less about the character, the story. That's why I think Nolan worked out
so well. He wasn't well known outside of Hollywood before Batman, would
be nice to give someone new a shot again.

A Collaboration of Nolan and Eli Roth and the guy who plays Sheldon (Jim Parsons) in The Big Ban Theory becomes The Riddler .

Eli Roth is an awesome director.

honestly, id like a new director because as good at TDK was, it didnt have enough focus on batman. Period, needs more batman, and more batman action sequences. Fights etc.

i see what you're saying, but the point of the dark knight wasn't batman (imo). it was harvey dent's story, his rise and fall.
