You shouldn't let it destroy your childhood favorites; I really like Dragonball Z and was unhappy that the film adaptations was somewhat poor but I still love the show. Maybe I just have a different point of view

At least you have a Spawn re-boot to look forward to

I agree that PG-13 is a bit lower than I expected but they can accomplish a lot with that rating; look at The Dark Knight.

I liked Spawn. However I had nothing to compare it too.

Just think how much more maniacal the Joker could of been if it had the higher rating.

Looking forward to this, Lobo has always intrigued me. Never read the comics so will be able to see this with a fresh mind.

He wouldn't have been any different on a higher rating, it just would have allowed for more gruesome portrayals of the things he did. And if they had shown the full bloody violence of it all, it probably would have taken away from the impact.

But why complain about PG13 for Lobo? I only really know of him because of his appearances in DCAU stuff and it worked well in my opinion. The pairing with a small girl seems more troubling to me.

ps I'd also like to add that Lobo is NOT a superhero. I'm getting really annoyed by every movie based on a super-powered comic character being referred to as a "super hero movie". No.

The Santa Claus story popped in my head instantly. This really needs to be an R movie.

Didn't Lobo become immortal by beating up the devil in hell or something along those lines? Then he was sent back.

I could see this being similar to something like Hellboy being PG13 and I loved Hellboy 1 & 2.

Is it just me or do things seems to be going great for Guy Ritchie now that he left Madonna?

Quote:
"Sherlock Holmes" director Guy Ritchie is putting down the pipe and picking up the cigar for "Lobo," the upcoming adaptation of the popular DC Comics antihero produced by Warner Bros. Hot on the heels of directing "Iron Man" actor Robert Downey Jr., Ritchie seems to have developed the urge to dive into the comic book movie bin himself—but first, he'll need a leading man.

Casting Lobo is tricky, especially given the WB's description of the character as "a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled antihero." Even if enhanced effects are necessary in creating Lobo's onscreen persona, the character needs a tested actor underneath the make-up... and these five men could very well do the trick.

1. Vinnie Jones: Having already worked with Ritchie on "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels," actor Vinnie Jones already has a level of familiarity with the "Lobo" director that could pay off on screen. More importantly, Jones is hardcore. Forget his turn as Juggernaut in the "X-Men" films—his role as Bullet Tooth Tony in "Snatch" is evidence enough that Jones can pull off all the grit and mayhem needed to bring the gun-toting antihero to life.

2. Christopher Meloni: If you're judging him solely on his heroic turn as Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern: First Flight," Christopher Meloni definitely seems like a bizarre choice for Lobo. But his portrayals of menacing inmate Chris Keller on "Oz" and hotheaded police detective Elliot Stabler on "Law & Order: SVU" demonstrate that Meloni can evoke Lobo's own fire and brimstone personality. Plus, his makeup-heavy performance in "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle" showed that Meloni can handle Lobo's necessary onscreen add-ons.

3. Mickey Rourke: Perhaps nobody embodies both the physical prowess and acting ability required to truly sell Lobo better than Mickey Rourke. Rourke is already a comic book familiar thanks to his roles in "Iron Man 2" and "Sin City," and with his star on the rise after "The Wrestler," the actor absolutely deserves a franchise to call his own. What better franchise for Rourke than "Lobo"? He'd make a brilliant match with director Ritchie and he'd play up Lobo's comedic and intimidating beats equally well.

4. Kurt Russell: If we're already assuming that visual effects are going to make up the bulk of Lobo's physique, why not go with the obvious choice — none other than Snake Plissken himself, Kurt Russell. The "Escape From New York" star has already retired his eyepatch-wielding persona, but what's stopping him from creating a new, equally awesome character? Russell is an absolute match for Lobo in terms of personality—and with the right visual enhancements, he could be the perfect pick for the role.

5. Jason Statham: Like Jones, "Crank" star Jason Statham is a Guy Ritchie veteran, so the familiarity aspect is there. But more than any of the aforementioned actors, Statham has made a career out of extraordinarily choreographed action sequences, bringing to "Lobo" a combat sensibility that the others on this list lack. He's also made no secret about his desire to become a comic book hero—namely Daredevil—so Statham's passion for the genre could make him a solid choice for "Lobo."

I hope Vinny Jones and Jason Statham stay away from it.

I'm not too sure about this.

Lobo is more of a B-team superhero and not really that well known outside of his fans.

As rabid as those fans may be, I just don't see it as having that much mass appeal.

Lobo + PG-13 = crapfest.

some of the comic book covers weren't even PG 13.

Vinnie and Statham are too one dimensional, simplistic thugs at best. Kurt can't really pull off sinister, even in Death Proof it was a stretch.

I like Meloni as he can pull off sinister and funny but maybe he lacks the star power. He is a very underrated actor as well.

If they are going the Hellboy route with complete body covering makeup then it's mainly about the voice and Mickey Rourke would be good. His face actually looks better and not as distracting when it's covered in makeup like it was in Sin City

I've only seen Lobo on a Superman Cartoon (a few years ago). Basically, Lobo spent the episode clobbering Superman.

Can't remember what happened in the end.

Lobo seems like a character who needs an r-rated movie for it to be done right.

I'd say he's like Deadpool. Not well known of outside of fan circles, but the fans and people who know of him will talk up the character until everyone knows about it.

And what's not to like about a comedic, invincible gun-for-hire?

As far as funny-man mercenaries, I'd put him right up there with Deadpool. Don't badmouth a character just because you know nothing of him.

a similar percentage of the "masses" were probably familiar with the Hellboy character before that movie came out

I never said that I didn't like the character, I just don't think he has the mass appeal of say Superman, Batman, or Green Lantern even.

I wouldn't say I don't know anything about the character either. But to say that the movie is going to be a smash success {which it may very well be} would be stretching it IMO.
