A film about a poor kid in Egypt? Don't we have Slumdog Millionaire for that?

Please no, no, no. All she ever did was complain about how she wanted a bigger role in Xmen and how she didn't want to do it anymore. Her role was too big to begin with, shortchanging better, more interesting characters/actors. I really hope they don't waste their time with this. I'm still pissed they didn't kill her character in X3 instead of someone much more important and cooler than her (not said to avoid spoilers in case someone lives in a cave.)

Calm down, she only said she wanted one--Big surprise, anything on the set she didn't want for herself??

(Never mind that Halle was instrumental in WHY Fox is doing solo movies to begin with--As in "Movies where we don't have to pay Halle's salary in addition to the others.
As for the comic Storm's origins...most of the interesting parts don't particularly involve her adult character to begin with.)

Storm doesn't have enough backstory to really justify her own movie, pretty much the only female X-Man who does is Jean Grey and that's because of Phoenix...they already did that in X3 though.

What kind of an origin does Storm even have?
nothing interesting. Lost her parents when their home fell on them and buried them and her alive (which is the cause of her clostrophobia), she lived on the streets of Cairo where she joined a group of pickpockets. Eventually she left and traveled Africa where her powers started manifesting and she became a rain goddess to a tribe there. When the original x-man team got kidnapped on an island Prfessor X created a new team to rescue them and Storm was one of them

For the love of all that is holy, someone take the X-Men franchise out back and shoot it. Reboot please, by Marvel, stop shoving this horrible FOX ideas down our throats.

Ummmm, I think what everyone is failing to realize, including Halle Berry, is that Hugh Jackman was able to reprise his role as Wolverine for Origins because Wolverine pretty much lives forever and doesn't age like everyone else. If they did do a Storm Origin (I think would be cool) I doubt Halle Berry could play a young Storm!

My vote is No on a Storm movie. There all SO many more interesting characters out there that people want to watch. We all wanted wolverine to happen because of what he can do, he's badass and well, he CANT die. Personally, I'd rather see a Magneto origins movie than Storm. We all would watch that even for a better back story. Just my thought.

In the comics, Storm still partly considers herself the "noble goddess" she was in Africa, and hasn't quite 100% grasped the idea of using mutant powers as opposed to what she thinks is her "divine command of the elements"--
The 90's cartoon played up more of her tendency to be grandiose and formal, which is how that "Struck by lightning" line ended up blown in the first movie: Joss Whedon wanted it to be a wisecrack, and Berry played it as serious.

(But still not particularly interesting, and as for Halle, I'd put her more in the me-too category of Anna Pacquin finding out about the comics, and reportedly asking "Hey, how come MY Rogue didn't get to fly??")

any X-Men origin would be fun to watch, but we all know financially not every character (or actor) can pull their weight.

Didn't we have more than enough of female empowerment in BSG? 4 years of it. As much as I liked the series, it was still suffering from excessive "empowerment". Helo became the "woosiness evolved" on BSG forums, Lee cried and got more emotional than most of the females in the series, even Bill Adama shed more tears than empowered and terminally ill Roslin...

And you said it yourself, after Catwoman and Elektra there isn't much hope that any of those will do good.

there is more then that, she was born in the US, but moved to Egypt at a real young age, so not that interesting, her mother was supposedly some African princess, X met her when she was still a pickpocket but he got into a fight with an other mutant so she got to escape.... I am just not sure there is enough action with mutant powers to make it an X-man movie

I have not seen the movie, but why is it different.
If someone wanted you could have a movie on his early years as well. A story about a sickly boy with a wealthy father and unstable mother. He spends his early life on the estate with Rose (a girl brought there to be a friend) and Dog (the ground keepers son). Something happens and his father fires the grounds keeper. The grounds keeper comes back and tries to kidnap the mother and ends up killing Father. At that moment he just walks in and sees what is happening, the (bonny) claws come out and he kills the grounds keeper and hurts Dog. The mother could not handle all this and kills herself. Dog tells the police and the Grand father that Wolverine killed them all so Wolverine and Rose went into hiding. He changed his name to Logan and worked in the mines for years, eventually he kills Rose by accident (fighting against Dog that went searching to kill them) and went and lived as an animal in the woods with wolves (which is where his rough animalistic nature comes from).

Does anyone actually care about Storm? I certainly didn't in the first two films.
