Just picked this player (BD-P1590) up at Wal-mart for $218 as mentioned in post above.

I put in "The Warriors" Blu-ray disc and the picture quality is great, but there is a sound delay by a second or two. (So then I put "The Warriors" in my Sony BDP-S350and it played perfectly.) Anyone else having sound issues with this model Samsung?

I also tried the "Kung-Fu Panda" Blu-ray in the Samsung and this time all worked great- picture and sound. Hmmm... I hope this won't be a hit and miss Blu-ray player. Man, I am spoiled by my Sony- it has never had an issue.

Perhaps a Samsung firmware download would solve? I haven't had a chance to hook up the internet to it yet.

Default Samsung BD-P1590

I haven't experienced any delay issues with mine yet. There is a firmware upgrade available. Mine updated when I connected the network but you can also do an update by downloading the firmware from Samsung and using a USB flash drive.

What sort of cable are you using to connect to the internet?

I read one review where the person was using CAT-6 cable. I have some CAT-5 cable laying around my house. Is CAT-6 better?

I am hooked on Netflix now and I am looking to get a BD player with fast loading times, great picture, and I can stream Netflix movies.

You can use Cat5 or 6.
Cat5 ethernet cables are made for 100mb transmissions
Cat5e ethernet cables are made for 100mb and 1GBtransmissions
Cat6 ethernet cables are made for 1GB transmissions

I may have to try the USB flashdrive trick for updating the firmware. Thanks.

Smile Sumsung 1590 and 1600

Just purchased the 1590 at Costco for $199. It is the identical unit as the 1600 without the aggravating flip-down front. It's simply a differnet market venue the manufacturer uses, with a minor change (front panel) which, in this case, works to our advantage.

Default Samsung blue-ray players suck

I have a 1400 and it skips all the time. They stop providing updates so I have been unable to play new blue-rays since March. Plus, with the update from December 2008, I can not play old movies. I will never buy Samsung again.

What is a good Blue-ray player to buy that keeps up with the latest movies and does not skip?

My bd-p1590 completely crapped after 5 months gauranty ran out at 5. They won't let me put in a service request or tell me where to get it serviced. Worked good while it worked. I'm going to go by a Sony

Return this player. Buy a different brand.

I had to disable my firewall on my router to get it to work.
