The Yamaha's just aren't that good. You can do worse, but your money will be better spent on something else. Might as well do it right the first time. Learn from the rest of us who've bought mediocre stuff over and over again until we finally decided to spend the money on something worth while. I mean, you buy what you can afford first, but if at all possible get the best that you can get so you don't go replacing it down the road. You can buy the Yamaha's now and be happy for a little while, but I guarantee you that you will want something better before too long.

If you want you can start by just buying the left, right, and center channel speakers first. Add a sub and surrounds later when you have the money for them. If you want a complete 5.1 setup from the start then look at THIS Energy package on Ebay right now. Its already at a good price but they are accepting best offers so you may be able to get it for around $300-$340 shipped. Just make an offer and see. Another option is to get THESE Energy speakers without the sub for $200 shipped and buy one of THESE subs for $120 shipped.

If at the end of the day you want the whole 5.1 setup as cheap as you can get it for then go with THIS Polk setup for $230 shipped. I think the other options that have been recommended by myself and others are better, but these are pretty solid and will definitely be better than that Yamaha setup. The beauty with these and the Energy packages is that you can always upgrade your fronts later with towers and a beefier center from either company to match what you will already have.

One other cheap option would be to get two pairs of THESE and THIS center for $220 shipped. Add the sub I pointed you to when you get the cash.

HERE is an entire system that I found yesterday that would be a nice begining system. Its almost like an HTiB without being one, and for the price prolly as nice as most high end HTiBs.

That's a pretty nice find. Not a bad package deal at all.
