Thumbs up Panasonic SA-BX500 review

Since I seem to be the first person on here to buy this receiver I wanted to give you my opinion on it's first inpression. After a couple of problems were corrected (both to do with settings) I was very pleased with the sound.I have only watched one movie all the way through (Tropic Thunder) but I could deff tell a difference in the DolbyTrueHD track and the standard Dolby 5.1 Track.I also tried out a DVD audio disc and it also sounded great. My old receiver (a Panasonic SA-HE200) was 130 x6 and this one is 130x7 ,finally I can use my second rear surround speaker. Now if there were only more 7.1 movies out there to enjoy.I only have two complaints about the unit. First when you want to watch a DVD or other component that is hooked up using fiber optic you half to unplug the HDMI cable from the blu-ray first.Secondly there is no way to do a manual test tone for setting up speaker outputs. It comes with a mic that you place in your normal listening area then hit auto test on the remote.I found that it seemed to set the center a little high causing cutouts at times .This was easily corrected by turning down the center a couple of db's.I payed $469 for the unit from J&R music world and so far have no regrets.

Default

I was wrong about the test tone not being able to be used manually.
