I would like some color adjustments that can be synched-up to color-bars on BR disks.

What? No color bars on BR disks? What a great idea!

Put some color bars somewhere on each BR (Sony can start this trend) that match the movie content. Then, have some PS3 adjustments to fine-tune the image to perfection.

I worked in TV for a decade, and we always set up scopes/machines to SMPTE color bars. It was the only way we knew the colors and levels were spot-on.

Why can't we do this with BR?

Just an idea people who make these disks should kick around.

Much like when you press stop...I want to be able to eject a disk(BD, DVD, CD) in play and when I re-insert it, have my PS3 remember where it was and continue from that point, like the Sony Dream systems for DVD's.

Doesn't have to be synched just available as scrollable text that has been styled to fit in..
This could actually be marketed with a Sony USB microphone to add Kareoke functionality to any song you put on your PS3. Just buy the Mic and a disk with the lyric/artwork finder update and boom. Another reason for your average consumer to buy a PS3 over another game system/HiDef player. I'm not into that, but I now lots of people who are.

I would like to have an update to have BDJ support. Then studios could start releasing more movies, like Batman Begins.

Default Things I would like to see in new firmware.

Things I would like to see with new firmware.
1. Support of 802.11 wireless pre-N dongle support.
2. Support of iTunes server and DRM files.
3. The web browser support of keyboard and mousing it is kind of kludgey now, also better support over all with keyboards and mouses in games and other parts of the PS3 interface.
4. Backup of PS3 hard drive to a media server automatically.
5. Support for streaming to other devices besides the PSP.
6. Support for more media types for media server on PS3.
7. Remote support of PS3 over the Internet were you can go into your PS3 from a PC/MAC web browers in another location and add and remove data files.

Erm... 1. To have the wireless N standard supported, you'll need hardware modifications to the WiFi module.
2. iTunes server? Mnah, Sony won't allow it, unless you get iTunes run on Linux...
3. Web browser support, sure is possible.
4. Backup of the PS3 drive? Mmm... Doubt it.
5. What other devices?
6. More media types? Sure hope it won't increase the price...
7. Remote desktop access, that's even uncommon under PCs nowadays... Not anytime soon I'm afraid. Microsoft said their next Windows might support it though.

Firmware... It sure is something nice.

Some of use have been thinking about adding the ability to stand-alone players to plug a calibration unit into to it, hit a button on the remote, and be done...

The PS3 already supports BD-J, in fact it it the best player when it comes to BD-J. That's why Disney discs like Pirates, Chicken Little, and The Guardian play so well on the PS3.

Now if it is PiP support that you are looking for, then yes the PS3 should get this so Warner can release some discs.

Any new firmware upgrade for the PS3 should At Least do the following
1. Region Free for Dvds would be great thats the least they can do
2. Region free Blu-Ray would magic and would give Hd-Dvd a run for there money
3. Playlists for Music a must have

I would like to see the ability to output 1080i in PAL (50hz), so I can get HD output for a change! My PAL HDTV doesn't like 1080i in NTSC (60hz), so I'm stuck in the SD dark ages until Sony pull their thumb out.

Not directly related to a firmware update as far as I know, but I would love to have a pure Bluetooth keyboard for ease when web surfing. As a matter of fact, I'd love to have my HDTV, AV receiver and cable box also controlled by Bluetooth. I prefer bluetooth over IR because of the line of site issue which can occasionlly be annoying.

You can already do this. When playing a Sony movie, bring up the onscreen menu and press the numbers that spell “SONY’ and you will be taken to the SONY calibration screens.

To clarify for those who don't know which letters correspond to which numbers, that's "7669."

If you post anything remotely positive, no matter what it is, about Blu-Ray, it is countered by some immature newby who is trying to defend his purchase. Of course, it's difficult to just let them "win" when you know that the forum is looked at by industry insiders. With all of the negative HD-DVD owners in the Blu-Ray forums, one could get the false impression that Blu-Ray isn't as good as it really is. Personally, I don't think it matters. With the huge sales lead, I'm really confident Blu-Ray is going to win anyway. Hopefully, this forum has less HD-DVD fanboyism.

Aaron is correct. TIFF is not yet supported. However, this is the least of my worries. I could always set up a Photoshop action and batch convert my TIFFs to JPGs. 8 megapixel uncompressed TIFF's are huge and would take forever over the WiFi anyway. It would probably not even work in slideshow mode as it would take so long to download the photo, it's ready to go to the next one.
