I need to do this as soon as I get some time. Last week I actually bought a title I already owned. Having something like this would have helped prevent such a fluky thing.

I've been on DVDSpot a while. When they first added that perecntage stat in January it was like 70/30 to HD-DVD, hence the webmasters note of HD-DVD having the clear lead. That will obviously be changing soon

Okay, so how does this figure out the percentages? Because there are 338 Blu-ray and 314 HD-DVD but the percentages are 48% Blu-ray 52% HD-DVD.

I think that means there are 338 Blu-Ray titles in the database and 314 HD-DVD titles. Then the percentages are based on actual ownership of high-definition discs.

Yep, that's correct. The percentages come from the total number of these titles that have been selected by the users for their collections. It's not the ratio of available titles they have listed.

OK, I want to add my owned Blu-rays in. How can I access and use your filter? And for titles that are not in your filter already, how do I add them. I guess I'm looking for something like a list where I can select those I own and then click "import" and then I'm done. I know it won't be that user friendly but I was just hoping.

The site is has a fairly large number of members and does not update in real time. So we will see how we are doing in a day or two.

Here is how to use a filter. It's pretty fast and easy to do.

Go to your page on DVDSpot.
You will see a large search box for your titles in the top center of the screen.
Click on the hyperlink in blue saying "MANAGE" (right below the "filter by" box).
Click "Add Filter"
Type in the name, i.e. "Blu-Ray"
Click Save.
Go back to the main page once again.
Put check marks next to each Blu-Ray movie you previously added.
Go to the pull down box in the upper right corner above the first film you have listed. It will say "<Group Actions>"
Select "Add to a Filter"
Select the filter you created ealier "Blu-Ray".
Click Save.

When you want to use the filter. Go to the big search box in the center of your page.
Select "Blu-Ray" in the Filter by: field.
Click "Filter".

Thanks it makes it so much easier to show my blu-rays to others.

Excellent. I was like whippersnapper and afraid I would get the same movie again. I almost did it with Memento. I thought I had it on DVD but it was actually on Blu-Ray.

You can add discs to the tab marked "Ordered" if you want and then flip them over into the "owned" area later. I like to buy online and its an easy way to make sure you get the movies.

Edit: NP Dadds. There is a ton of stuff you can do I am just finding out about it myself.

Well, I got mine entered. It went quicker then I expected once I had the knack. In addition to the one duplicate I knew about (Volver; I had advanced ordered it from Amazon, forgot about that and then was with my wife at Best Buy to get a chick flick for her to watch and bought Volver). When the Amazon order arrived, I didn't open it so will be able to return it) I also managed to buy two copies of Fantastic4. I have no idea how I did that. But will never do it again now.
