For a store that has a high rate of shoplifting, its good to keep their items secure behind glass because it prevents the prices from going up. In fact, the Walmarts in my area have those anti-theft scanners. When Wally World does increase their selection along with cheaper prices, I'll be their best customer

At my WalMart there is just an end cap dedicated to Blu's. oh and dont forget the two BluRay players they offer. Its rough living an HD lifestyle in an SD town.

There are 3 super wal-marts around me and none of them deserve to have the moniker "super". Their Blu-ray selections are nothing short of pathetic. They don't hardly carry any older catalogue releases and once they sell out of stuff you rarely ever see it again. None of them ever got transformers in on blu, now thats crazy! I went to all 3 the other day looking for the Terminator movies and they have none of them.
I'm very surprised they overtook amazon. I have recently quit ordering titles from amazon that are supposed to have slipcovers as amazon never sends the slip covers. I usually buy at Best Buy now but price match.

Just depends how the DVD/BLU section is laid out. If they have the short aisles or long ones.
Well, the Wal-Mart I reluctantly go to has short aisle's and it's still just 1/2 for movies and 1/2 for 3 different players including the PS3.

You should come to my Wal-Mart because that's all they seem to carry is catalog titles, but you are right; once they sell out; good luck seeing it again.

It's a full aisle at the ones around me too. The problem is, though, that the aisle is devoted to blu-ray, not just blu-ray discs. The middle third of the aisle is blu-ray players on display. Only the end sections have blu-ray movies, and even those sections are over half empty. At least they're not behind glass at the stores around me though.

If this is true this is GREAT news. I shop walmart early Saturday or Sunday morning around 6:30am. It is nice that the freaks are not there at that time(for the most part) So, I always "see" what they have. So it is not my go to place but I have picked up a few impulse buys there and that has been a great experience for me !

Same here... I work for Wal-Mart in their Informations System Division, and i see the Sales reports from all the stores in the US. While they are getting more and more popular, Sales are still slipping at most stores, 2 of the 6 stores in our area have just reduced their Blu Ray section by ALOT!! some of the bigger city stores may expand the Blu section but most wont....

The two Walmarts close to me have a decent selection of blu-ray movies (and they are not behind glass) so I like that. And I hope this expansion will really happen because Best Buy is too far away for me to visit very often. I'd love to see Wal-mart become the major brick and mortor supplier of blus.

Many of the catalog titles have pretty good prices at Wal-Mart.

Like when Friday the 13th came out, it was $19.96, if I recall.

Everyone else wanted $24.99 or more, if I remember.

Also, I was in Wal-Mart today and I noticed the whole row where the Blu's usually are was GONE. They still have the glass case with the newer titles but the entire row of blu-ray movies was missing (in its place were cel phone accessories). I asked the clerk what was up and he said they sent ALL those movies back and were receiving a new larger shipment of blu-ray movies and that there would be a new LARGER display when they arrive. He indicated they were expanding the entire electronics department as well. I asked if they would still have the new releases tomorrow and he said they would be in the glass case like always. So look for a NEWER, BIGGER blu-ray section soon!

Yeah agreed, but I'm liking the catalog titles that are priced $10-$14.96, now thats a great catalog price and would definitely help them beat out bestbuy (if they do expand) and stay a head of amazon!

Lol, tell me about it. The store I work at is undergoing a remodel right now, and it sucks. As far as the Blu Ray section expanding, we may see that happen as they are expanding our electronics department. But I think it will vary by area/region in which you live.

Yeah well, you can tell them if they actually carried more blu-ray's then maybe people would have a chance to buy them from wal-mart and increase their sales. As is now, the ones here don't have sh*t.

Default re

just got back from walmart here in southern MN. they just illiminated the majority of their blu ray movies. doesnt look like they will have room for more. so assuming there wont be any more? are they illiminating blu ray dvd sales at walmart now? anyone know how blu ray sales are going? are they not selling? so the only place we can really buy blu ray with a large title selection now would be amazon.com?? what about best buy.com? do they have a lot ?

First of all, blu-ray and DVD are NOT the same thing, they are completely different technologies. Second of all, yes BestBuy.Com AND Wal-Mart.Com both have excellent blu-ray selections.
