Further proof that AVS is ban happy to the point of ridiculousness. Who bans people associated with the actual filmmakers? Especially when he just asked a simple non-inflammatory question, and made the very simple misunderstading that AVS is pro-HD-DVD (which they are). On top of that, I find it rather telling of HD-DVD fanboys that they are full of bile that it's hard to find a balanced fan who can speak clearly and honestly on the subject. Seems there was little problem location someone who could speak rationally for Blu-ray. Says a lot that it is so hard to do it for HD-DVD.

Wow, this is the best point I've seen to throw in their face yet. I forgot about this. Someone who doesn't mind a ban over there should post this. I'd love to see an answer to that.

Yup and if that's neutral imagine what it's like to be HD-DVD only.

Well, I was already banned there once ... I did create another account there ... and truly wouldn't mind getting banned again.

I'll take that challenge!

I'll let you know the results.

It would simply be deleted immediately, no real point.

In all fairness, they banned him here too temporarily. And having read that thread, I know it wasn't an accident.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

AVS Forum as a company is NEUTRAL on the issue of the format war. We work closely with both format providers. (Side note...Both camps were sponsors and guests and the CEDIA AVS Forum party.)

Seeing this was an offer was not extended to any other site other than AVS and Blu-ray.com, someone seems to not understand the above. The offer did not ask for forum members, they asked for a representative from this site to take part in an e-mail that was sent. AVS will not take part, as we can not, and they were informed about this.

BE IT KNOWN...Anyone who enters into this debate IS NOT REPRESENTING AVS FORUM. You may be a member here, as on other various sites, but please do not speak for this site. This includes the mods.

All we can see come from this is just more attacks between members and this has already started to happen.

With this said, we will now close this thread and threads on the same debate subject. Lets face it, we already have enough debate on the formats as it is. Now lets go watch a movie.

Thank you all.

The hypocrisy !
Hello ???????????????????????????

1. Why have all the Blu-ray insiders stopped posting on the AVS Insider’s Thread ?

2. Why do independent neutral producers feel compelled to make statements like this….
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...&postcount=344

3. Why was Amir (who is the acknowledged poster boy for spreading FUD about the Blu-ray format) allowed to speak on behalf of AVS at the last CEDIA ?

4. Why have so many Blu-ray supporters that were AVS forum members left that forum en masse if they are truly a "neutral" forum ?

5. Why does an AVS moderator make a statement from the heart like this about how *sad he was* that Target was going to double the shelf space to Blu ray next month.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=920658

And then later..... give it the old MicroSpin after he read what we had posted about his candidness here on our forum.....realizing that it wasn't too smart for him to come out of the pro-HD DVD moderator closet so openly.

1. BDA encourages their insiders to post on 'friendly' forums only.

2. He was trying to work some deal with MSFT and was rebuffed. He tried to play up the format war to try and sell more BD disks. It was all a sales gimmick.

3. Because he uses his real name and was running VC-1 at MSFT. MSFT is well known and MSFT is at the forefront of next gen codec development. MSFT is helping Warner with both HD DVD and BD encodes.

4. Because they are a sucker for propaganda and cannot stand to have their points debated in a non partisan forum. Lower IQ (?)

5. I have got many many reprimands and even a ban from a heavily pro BD mod on AVS. So at AVS mods have preferences, some are pro BD, some pro HD DVD and some are neutral....I prefer it that way.

All in all, AVS is a far more mature and intelligent place than blu-ray.com. FWIW. But anyone who participates in blu-ray.com is subjecting themselves willingly to mindless propaganda....without any intelligent discourse or opposing points of view. The agenda is set by who?

Haha. I got a kick out of that last post. Absolutely unbelievable with the tunnel vision some people are running around with. That final note he made was purely made up so it makes them look like they are running a fair forum. At least blu-ray.com makes it pretty clear that this website is pro-blu-ray.

Default Huh?

I was checking out some of the postings at Bay's website regarding the format war. When I saw this one, I have to say it made me wonder why Nelson would want to have this debate.

http://www.shootfortheedit.com/forum...p?t=238&page=4

Specifically post #31 which is in response to someone claiming that studio support (Disney) is an advantage.

Quote:
The deciding factor--initially--will have nothing to do with either formats.

No regular folks are going to spend $1,500 on a TV when they have a $300 that will do the job for them.

Once that hurdle is left behind, it just a matter of who has the cheaper player.

Quality never was the deciding factor in tech wars. If that were the case, the great majority would be running Macs and spent most of the 80s and 90s watching movies on Betamax.
Scratching my head over this one

Sorry ... I just thought I'd ask people to think for themselves. Sorry to crash the groupthink thread.

And can you believe it? They're still ranting about Dracula!! Apparently, they're all waiting for someone named Xylon, who appears to be some sort of expert, to take yet even more screen shots of this film ... to prove what? He's like Dave Mack ... eager and rabid to prove some point ... just not sure what that point is.

That argument about cheap televisions that supposedly do the same job is asinine. They completely underestimate the spending power and how the people value their utility when it comes to home entertainment. It just shows their complete lack of understanding of and loss of touch with consumer and their spending trends in the home entertainment market.

And if that was really the case, then why is blu-ray dominating the markets world wide when a cheap hd-dvd player can provide all their home entertainment needs?

Yes there is a 360 in TF... It would have been funny if it got RROD and died in the movie

LOL
Plazman is a wannabe player that aspires to be somebody *in the know*……when his regular day job is going slow. I'd almost completely forgotten about the plazman.

Paidgeek never mentioned the Target thing before I did.

All paid ever said regarding a heads-up to the Target announcement was something non-specific like “Expect some big news soon” or some such phrase. I later chimed in the same day to say “Expect everything to be on Target tomorrow ” and informed folks regarding the specific subject and the day the announcement would be forthcoming.
I actually kept Josh here on hold for several hours waiting for the official announcement by the AP which eventually hit the mainstream press in the late afternoon (his time).

Hell, plazman, knows all this. I challenged him to support his claim by finding an earlier post regarding the Target announcement but he couldn’t.

I also challenged him to find anything anywhere on the internet (before I did) saying that Click would be the first movie to appear on a BD50 disc.

He couldn’t do it.

The list is endless for my providing insider info to that HD DVD dominated ungrateful forum…..more examples are when I gave people a heads-up regarding Springsteen’s Dublin concert coming out on Blu-ray, the number of Casino Royale Blu-ray discs that had sold thru, my specifically refuting the announcement by a French website that Lawrence of Arabia would be out on Blu-ray this year…......Grubert is familiar with that one, etc.

I stopped providing insider info to AVS forum members after I gave everyone a subtle heads-up regarding the Paramount *change of faith* and the Stephen Nickerson *moving on*…..hours before anyone else did. They just don’t want any insider news from a Blu-ray advocate; only cutting edge news favoring the HD DVD format is desired over there.

Like I said, don’t waste your time reading plazman. He’s out to discredit any Blu-ray insider one way or another.

Penton vs. Plazman. Who is more mature? You be the judge.

He has the nerve to say it is more mature over there? Uh that said, this line is kind of immature, "Is that alright with you?"

I wonder if we can add "AVS" to a list of words which do not show up when posting. I would just as soon never hear about that place again. The thing is I don't think such a list exists. That's how open we are here.

I went originally to *** when purchasing my HDTV. Unfortunately they have decided to keep their highly volatile HD player forums open. I never want to go there again.

It is one of the worst places I have ever encountered in my many years on the internet.
