This you should have done from the get go. Although Color for me is set to +10 and everything else is 0 (I think, dont remember), I also set my Dynamic Contrast to Low from my TV set and the results are flawless.

I just wondered if anyone has had their disc freeze/skipping at roughly the 5 minute mark? The scene where they are outside the closed theatre and the old guy is telling Anne he is leaving and she should concentrate on herself and go for the new part.
It just freezes and skips ahead ever so slightly to the next scene. Where she is asking about the new part and the guy gives her the business card. I am using a Samsung K8500 player. The disc seems fine as far as I can tell physically. I have cleaned the disc anyway but it makes no difference. I have not tried the same point in the theatrical version so I don't know if it's the same on that one. I am currently continuing to watch the extended edition as I type this, and it's seems fine thus far. I think I have a dodgy disc? I I'm in the UK and have imported it from the US. I was wondering if there is an email I could use to contact universal about this? Thanks |

I should mention I'm not a super expert on this movie though, only watched it twice before this (BD and DVD one time each). I like the movie now much more than I did before. |

Watched my King Kong (2005) UHD HDR DTS:X MA disk earlier and enjoyed it. It played perfectly from end to end on my Oppo UDP-203 player. I thought the UHD HDR treatment was particularly well done, especially in the Times Square and Empire State Building scenes later in the movie. My only disappointment, a quibble actually, is that I found the LFE lacking. The immersive effects were well done and the surround speakers were used effectively too, but the low frequencies were few and far between.

I had the same kind of glitch yesterday, see my post above. My disc did go back to normal after rewinding mine was around the five minute mark on the extended edition. Out of interest which of your two players were you using? Your oppo or your Samsung? I was using my Samsung K8500. Hopefully it was just a Glitch and it won't happen again when we next watch it |

Gave this a full, late night rewatch since getting things sorted the other day, and I actually kinda like it as a movie in general now. Not bad at all.
Pretty enjoyable, mostly the blockbuster it should be, but it had some cool moments (I love when he's tearing through the theater balcony seats), themes and ideas with a unique, dusty color scheme and is a pretty nice looking UHD at times. Great costume work and HDR really enhances fabrics like this, with more color and texture (I think we need Gangs of New York on UHD). It's really flexing in some parts, especially the ending sunrise highlighting Ann's hair and face. That might almost too much, but it makes for a nice final showpiece. Also, either you get used to it's lighting model and grain as the movie goes on, or it really does get better looking once they hit the boat, and keeps getting more visually interesting from there. It's like it goes from Once Upon a Time In America, to Titanic, to Mysterious Island, to Jurassic Park, back to Moulin Rogue, then finally... King Kong. Never owned it before, so this is the first time I've ever really given my full attention to it. Wanted to give it that fair shake I said I would before I get Skull Island later today. |
