IIRC she was told she'd be back before anybody knew she would be gone? I could be remembering wrong.

She says she can't just leave everything. The Doctor says that's fine and leaves. He then returns and says "Oh, and did I mention, it travels in time!". This makes Rose decide to leave

I don't think you can really watch this show expecting 100% believable human behavior. He/She always has normal humans traveling alongside who do things most normal humans would never do.

Case in point: Sarah Jane falling down a hill for no reason in The Five Doctors, which was used as a cliffhanger (?!) when the special was split into episodes for reruns.

I already ordered both Twice Upon A Time 4K UHD and Day of The Doctor 3D but I don't think I will even unwrap them until they fall into order of viewing (currently on S01E04). It will be tempting to check them out for overall PQ but I need to be strong and not be tempted

Stay strong; Day of the Doctor is so good it will be hard to stop watching if you do start.

Hope you are enjoying series 1, episode 6 is amazing.

You definitely need to watch Day of the Doctor in its proper place. The story has way more impact because of it. It's the conclusion of the Doctor's arc that feeds through all seven series prior.

I need to go back and check how many seasons Amazon Prime is offering, hoping they do include all the episodes that I need to watch leading to Day of The Doctor and Twice Upon A Time-which I will then watch on 3D bluray and 4K UHD

You need to watch series 1 through 4; then the Specials (which finish off the Tennant era); then series 5 through 7 then The Day of the Doctor.

You can also watch Torchwood and the Sarah Jane Adventures if you wish (can tell you where they fit in if you want) but not seeing them won't affect your enjoyment of Doctor Who.

They're not necessarily missing, but they're listed outside their respective seasons. I'd suggest finding out where each of the specials after Series 4 are meant to take place so you don't have to worry about finding out later and you can jump straight to them when it's time.

Also, while it's kinda optional to watch the mini-episodes in the show, you'll want to watch the prequel to the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, after you finish Series Seven.

The specials are all listed individually or by Doctor. They should be watched in the correct place.

So the order is:

Series 1
The Christmas Invasion
Series 2
The Runaway Bride
Series 3
The Voyage of the Damned
Series 4
The Next Doctor
The Planet of the Dead
The Waters Of Mars
The End Of Time Part 1 and 2
Series 5
A Christmas Carol
Series 6
The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe
Series 7 Episodes 1-5
The Snowmen
Series 7 Episodes 6-13
The Day of the Doctor
The Time of the Doctor
Series 8
Last Christmas
Series 9
The Husbands of River Song
The Return of Doctor Mysterio
Series 10
Twice Upon A Time
Series 11

Worth noting that if you get the BD season sets there's only a few you need to buy separately. The streaming sorting makes it a clusterf**k.

I am going with Prime streaming for as long as possible and only order BD when no other option is available

I believe the logos used on the cover should reflect the period in which they were made and what is presented in the actual program. I personally believe BBC is way out of line in retro-brading everything Who.

Just saying. YMMV.

I actually put the 4k disc in the standard blu-ray package because the standard blu-ray looks much better on the shelf with his three season sets.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the re-brand myself, it's nice to see BBC take all these different parts of Doctor Who (Classic Who, New Who, Big Finish etc.) and put it all under "one roof" so to speak. Combined with the new Classic Who Blu-Ray boxsets, it helps push the idea that this is all one big story rather than several different and distinct things. It helps Classic Who and Big Finish feel less like they're separate from New Who and more like it's all one show. And the current logo works so well with every era of the show; unlike the RTD logo, the Moffat logo or the McGann logo or any other logo, it doesn't look odd when put with other eras of the show. This logo is just... right and works with nearly anything Doctor Who related you can put it on, unlike other logos (some of which just looked awkward on merchandise/DVD packaging). But hey, that's just me.

I don't think the new logo is any more "universal" than the others. You might like it and see it that way, but others might not. Very subjective. They're all obviously from their different eras and it is cooler to see the eras maintain their logos, if you ask me.

If BBC could snap their fingers and make all my stuff match then maybe I'd be more into it, but I already have seasons 1-10 with their normal logos, so that's not gonna happen. It looks a lot better for Capaldi's final disc release to match the three seasons that came before it.
