Meanwhile there were plenty of Hispanic people who were arguing how they LOVED Speedy Gonzales and felt it would be offensive if it were removed.

It's like when they removed Aunt Jemima from the syrup bottles because it's offensive/insensitive to blacks. Isn't it MORE OFFENSIVE by removing her? Isn't that like saying "oh we don't want this black women on our products anymore"? I guess my brain just isn't petty enough to understand.

As for what some kid might do because of what they saw in a cartoon, where do we draw the line? Snowflake parents act like they're soooo concerned about what their kid saw on a cartoon, yet they give them full access to an iPad and the internet! If your kid is picking up bad habits from a CARTOON, then you're not doing your job as a parent! I was allowed to watch pretty much whatever I wanted when I was a kid, but my ass knew that I wasn't allowed to use foul language or bring a gun to school or whatever else kids do that snowflake parents want to blame on cartoons, movies and video games.

As a parent, you should know the maturity level of your kid and act accordingly. I was very mature as a kid growing up and had a lot of freedom that I knew would be taken away from me the moment I stepped outa line in school or in public. It's called having GOOD PARENTS who knew how to PARENT!
I don't believe that for a second. Otherwise you wouldn't be foaming at the mouth in your posts. I'm going to tell you something you might not believe. You're not the only person in the universe. I'm not going to blame your parents for your lack of understanding. They could be upstanding people. But this monotonous diatribe you posted makes you look like an emotional, immature child.

I agree with you far more than not. Personally, I find modern cartoons more offensive than older cartoons and am more worried about what my kid might pick up from what's on right now than what used to be on. I don't agree with most of the "values" of modern sensibilities. So, as a good parent, I do my best to keep my kid from watching what I feel is harmful to them. Good natured caricatures of different cultures doesn't bother me, regardless if they are black, Asian, Irish, German, British, Southern White American or whatever. I respect however that some people are bothered by some of these, but maybe not all of them. Funny how that works, but such is life.

However, it's hard to be a parent today. I can't control what my son might watch once he's old enough to go to school. I can't control what he may watch at a friend's house. I can't control what he may watch with another family member who may be watching him and has a very different view of the world. From that point of view, it's not as easy as saying "be a good parent," when so many outside forces are in a constant fight with you. I can respect that others feel different than I do and things I see are harmful to my child, they see as good and so on. It's harder however when I and others on my side of the fence may have respect for the other side but they have none for me. It's further harder when a company like Disney used to support my side, but no longer does, and even actively fight against me. I just wish there was more respect all around. Sadly, we don't live in that society. But I feel your frustration, 100% and more.

The Disney Afternoon was one of the few highlights of my day, a refuge from the hostile environment of elementary school for me. The shows and this one in particular are particularly precious to me. I own producers' signed working copies of the pilot script and storyboards and one of my favorite memories as an adult was to meet Tad Stones at a convention in Milwaukee and tell him just how much the show and their characters meant to me growing up and give him a hug. In addition to the technical presentation of this show I'd love to sit down with people here and gush over how good this series is, and how it really had an impact on the children who grew up with it over the years...

...I'm looking forward to spending time with my friends Chip, Dale, Gadget, Monty, and Zipper. I'm just going to ignore people like you and focus on that.
First, I really appreciate your comments and sharing your struggles. You've already mentioned Tad who I too have talked with before, but I've had the pleasure of talking with and interviewed a lot of other people from different areas of production from this show, and I feel without a doubt they would all feel touched that their work meant so much to you and helped you in such a major way. That was a recurring theme with some of these panels/interviews is that from the point of view of the people who worked on these shows at the time, for a lot of them, it was just a paycheck and they didn't think much of it past that. Then all these years later they start hearing stories like your story and it suddenly hits them what an important thing it was that they worked on. So thank you. If I talk to any of them again in the future, I will pass your story on. I know a few of them that would love to hear it.

I wouldn't say that any of the DA shows saved my life, but they were VERY important to me. I too was bullied when I was a kid for a lot of reasons. Some of those reason were because of I was a bit of a skinny runt and easy to beat up on, some of it was because of even sillier things like my skin color or religion. One of my fingers is forever broken because I, a white kid, dared to want to play soccer at lunchtime, and only the Hispanic kids were allowed to do so, apparently. That changed after I went right back to wanting to play after my surgery, but the more important point was that I hated school because of these situations and the Disney Afternoon was my refuge from that life. During elementary and middle school, those shows were the main thing I was thinking about and looking forward to every day. So I understand to a point where you are coming from. I feel good saying, you and I are not alone in the basic situation here. School was hard to be at sometimes and I've heard others share similar stories.

Anyway, all of that said, I think one of the main points that MaliciousIntent was kind of trying to make is, what if you didn't get to watch Rescue Rangers ever again because Disney felt the whole show was offensive? What if you didn't get to watch certain episodes, some maybe were your favorites, because Disney felt they were offensive? These are growing issues in entertainment, and issues we can't ignore. Frankly, the studios won't let us. I'd like to believe, based on how much the show clearly means to you, that you could join with me and MaliciousIntent in not wanting any part or even the whole of Rescue Rangers to be kept from us because of what a few executives at Disney have decided.

Were talking about Rescue Rangers in this thread, but sadly the issue of censorship has come up with just about every Disney Afternoon show. I'm personally not a fan of those "warning labels" studios slap on old shows, but I'd rather they do that then censor any part of an old show or film. Give people a warning, sure (I'd like to see similar warnings on modern shows frankly, in the spirit of respect and fairness), but ultimately let people watch what they are going to watch. I hope that we can agree on that much. Again, thank you for your comments and enjoy your blu-ray when you get it!

I understand your desire to want a bunch of screen shots, maybe talk about the sound quality and debate if the correct aspect ratio is intact, but frankly these discussions on social issues as they pertain to censorship of a given show or film are valid discussions on a thread like this. Cartoons especially seem to have been hit hard with this issue. The Disney Afternoon alone as a full canon has had multiple episodes just scrubbed off of cable networks running reruns or streaming/digital platforms. Discussions of any of these episodes being censored is a very legitimize discussion. I agree, we should try to bridle our passions, try to show each other respect and do our best to keep discussions to only the issues at hand, but I must disagree with you in wanting to just push these issues aside. We still don't have all the classic Tom and Jerry shorts because of these issues.

Yes, I too want to see screen shots and I too care about correct aspect ratio and sound quality, but the censorship issue is at least of equal importance to me and many others, maybe even more important these days. It would be hard for me to ever support a DVD, Blu-ray or 4K, regardless if they are the greatest looking and sounding discs on the market place, if part of it has been cut and censored with no way of enjoying the original version. I hope you can appreciate this and understand where we are coming from. Also, here's to more screen shots! So far these look amazing!

You're very welcome, I'm glad you appreciated them and I'd be very touched if you could share my story with them (Tad appreciated it which was great)!

I'm sorry you got bullied as a kid too, but I'm glad you had the DA to boost your spirits. My faith teaches me that God does not cause bad things to happen (bullying happens because kids can be cruel or learn that from their parents etc) but you can take that bad thing and do something with it. Suffering isn't in vein if you can use it for good and it's taught me resilence and compassion and in sharing my own suffering if it brings some joy of satisfaction to the creators of my animated friends, that would be fantastic.

As I mentioned earlier I am 100% against any censorship or alteration to this show or any show for that matter from the title cards to the end credits to anything inbetween. This show is precious to me and it's also a time capsule of society so it should be appreciated as-is. Like anything from this to Gone With The Wind, Song of the South or heck even Birth of a Nation it should be preserved for artistic and historical preservation, and I'd defend that with all my being. I love the Looney Tunes shorts, I love the Tom and Jerry ones and I collect the Chip and Dale classic shorts too. It's art, it's history and they're damn entertaining too. You can choose to watch or not watch it based on your preferences or sensibilities.

RoboCop and Predator are examples of favorites of mine. Do the homophobic slurs bother me now that I came out? Yes, admittedly they do, but it was the 80s and that's just how it was and it doesn't stop my enjoyment of the film. Others may not want to watch them for that reason or others like the graphic violence and that's fine- just don't alter art and history to suit your tastes. That applies to me as much as it does anyone.

The omission of the usual yellow DMC borders around the front and back covers leads me to believe that the set is a general release, but has an exclusivity window (through the DMC, obviously) for a few weeks. Not the first time anything of the sort has happened, either.

So, it's 65 episodes on 6 discs. Do we know how they sit inside the case? On top of each other, etc?

Has it been addressed that these episodes might be out of order? On IMDB it says “Piratsy Under the Seas” is the first episode. But on disc one “Catteries Not Included” is the first episode and “Piratsy Under the Sea” is the fourth episode.

There's virtually zero episode-to-episode continuity in the show, so it doesn't really matter what order you watch them in.

Other than the pilot episodes, pretty much yeah.

They may be going in broadcast order because "Catteries Not Included' was the first episode shown on the Disney Channel ad a preview of sorts.

Not sure if it applies in this specific case, but there's a lot of animated shows from the 80s and 90s where they were produced in one order, but aired in a different order. I'm guessing that IMDB is showing production order, and the BD release has the episodes in broadcast order. Either one could arguably be considered 'correct', unless one of them creates continuity errors, and Rescue Rangers has zero continuity.

I prefer shows to be shown in airing order or at least production order. While not as bad for this show except maybe when they start using new vehicles. Though order is important for ones like Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Gummi Bears, etc. that have some actual continuity beyond some multipart episodes.
