Well I gotta say, the OAR presentation is GREAT news!!! Thank you Disney.
![]() I also take it that controversial episode is included too (a reason why should keep investing in physical media)? |

I don't see a problem with no grain in cartoons , it's not like fine detail goes missing as it was animated to start with

Yeah, it's only when lines and other things that get erased due to DNR that's the problem.
I'm against DNR regardless, but if it's not affecting the image, then there's nothing to complain about (though I do prefer grain). |

The laserdiscs I have are mono. I think cartoons were unlikely to be in stereo at that time. Batman TAS is stereo but that show was a few years newer.

I don’t have any RR LDs yet but if it’s anything like the Darkwing Duck LD I have it is a major difference in terms of audio quality from untouched pcm to lossy who knows what filters they ran it through Dolby digital. It’s great the OAR is being maintained but a unsurprising shame Disney has hit the DNR button. It should be called Disney noise reduction. With the lossy audio and presumably a higher price tag it reminds me of Warner’s screwy Scooby Doo release. |

This is not comparable to Scooby-Doo. This still looks good and they've given it an adequate amount of discs (and BD-50s too).
Disney might still be in love with DNR but they haven't stooped that low just yet. |

I really don't get the double standard these days. Like when I'm watching a COMEDY show/movie made in the last 10 years and there are black/white people hanging out. The white person will do something dumb and the black person will sarcastically say "white people" and then shake their head. Why is that ok but not the other way around? Suddenly it becomes "racist" if the white person says something sarcastic like "black people", but not the other way around. It's pretty hypocritical. I find the hypocrisy to be more offensive than any of the vulgar remarks. I don't bother watching any of the modern "woke" crap these days so that really only leaves me with things that were made when people weren't such snowflakes. That's what makes it even more annoying when they take the movies/shows we grew up with and start modifying them to fit today's "SNOWFLAKE STANDARDS"! Have your "woke" crap but leave our stuff alone! ![]() |

I get what you’re saying, and for the most part I love UNPC humor, but this was considered children’s programming. I think Disney wanted to put the disclaimer on the release to cover themselves. This being a children’s cartoon, look at it from the angle of how mean kids can be towards each other. For example if the ep (and I haven’t seen it) shows some stereotype of an asian character that is meant to be funny, and a small child possibly picks up on it and let’s say makes fun of an asian classmate or neighborhood friend, the kid might not be fully aware but it would make that other kid feel bad. |

It's like when they removed Aunt Jemima from the syrup bottles because it's offensive/insensitive to blacks. Isn't it MORE OFFENSIVE by removing her? Isn't that like saying "oh we don't want this black women on our products anymore"? I guess my brain just isn't petty enough to understand. As for what some kid might do because of what they saw in a cartoon, where do we draw the line? Snowflake parents act like they're soooo concerned about what their kid saw on a cartoon, yet they give them full access to an iPad and the internet! ![]() As a parent, you should know the maturity level of your kid and act accordingly. I was very mature as a kid growing up and had a lot of freedom that I knew would be taken away from me the moment I stepped outa line in school or in public. It's called having GOOD PARENTS who knew how to PARENT! |

Jeez. I never said that any of the episodes should actually be altered because sensibilities change, I just acknowledged that what was acceptable then may not be so now and that it's minor anyway. I too would be up in arms if the show I grew up with was changed.
While the 80s and 90s that I grew up in had a lot of good shows and uplifting media, there were also a lot of problems. I was bullied as a kid because I was one of the few non-white kids in my school, and I was a closeted gay kid too and there was zero acceptance of my sexuality in society at the time. Even then as a small child I knew implicitly that this was so (well before I knew what attraction to another person even was), so I wasn't very happy. In fact the Rescue Rangers were my friends because I knew that they would help anyone regardless of who they were. If not for this show, I wouldn't even be alive to be writing this to you now. The Disney Afternoon was one of the few highlights of my day, a refuge from the hostile environment of elementary school for me. The shows and this one in particular are particularly precious to me. I own producers' signed working copies of the pilot script and storyboards and one of my favorite memories as an adult was to meet Tad Stones at a convention in Milwaukee and tell him just how much the show and their characters meant to me growing up and give him a hug. In addition to the technical presentation of this show I'd love to sit down with people here and gush over how good this series is, and how it really had an impact on the children who grew up with it over the years. However it seems like you have zero interest in actually listening to what anyone else has to say and blasting any attempt to explain how the past isn't always perfect as "woke" or "snowflakes". I'm giving you nuance and personal examples AND saying despite all that shows are a product of their time and shouldn't be censored in any way, and you're just yelling and rejecting it out of hand with a bunch of stupid buzzwords and frankly have no idea what you're talking about. I'm looking forward to spending time with my friends Chip, Dale, Gadget, Monty, and Zipper. I'm just going to ignore people like you and focus on that. |

The Case of the Cola Cult
But given all 65 episode are included, my question I realize is now moot. But again, another reason why you should invest in physical media; episodes not available on a streaming service because of "controversial" content. Where streaming is PUBLIC, physical media is PRIVATE. ![]() |
