Already have all the Ozu that was release, I think well on DVD as I have not got the MoC release of his movies unless I overlook one somewhere, which is possible as I can be clueless at times. Yes I would very much like to hear about the Shimizu set after you have seen it. It's probably another one I should pick as the chances of a Blu-ray will be very slim.

I went with the KTL score also. I tried to watch the film with the other (default) track, but can't make it past the first 10 mins. before I switch back to the KTL version. (the music on the KTL track works perfectly with the images from the film)

There's only 8 left, and its cheaper than B&N, I don't know if Criterion will ever release on blu, so better act fast.

What score did everyone view it with? I elected to go with the Swedish-composed piece.
Film is such a rorschach. Watched 20 mins of each soundtrack and chose the one that was composed by Bye (see you later?), the default. Enjoyed the music in addition to the film. Some of the screechy parts, like the one by the sea, were actually chilling. Good sound quality, too.

Does anyone know if Criterion ever plans on releasing their Easy Rider as a standalone?

Doubt it, since there's already of couple editions of the BD out. You could always do what some people did, and buy the set, and sell the others. I'd buy the whole set and at least watch them before I sold them though, as it's a wonderful set.

I'm OCD about the BBS set, I'm not going to sell any of the films by themselves, I'm going to keep the set together. Although if Five Easy Pieces ever gets a standalone release then I will probably sell it. And I still need to watch The Last Picture Show. I also ordered Trafic from Amazon since it's oop and I have never seen the film, but the clips that I watched online I enjoyed.

Since recently buying tons of blu-rays and DVDs from Criterion (as well as UK's Eureka Masters of Cinema), has anyone else been more selective with buying newer movies? I feel like I've wasted a lot of money on newer movies when I could have been buying tons of entertaining ones from the past. And most new movies are just going to be forgettable. So it took a lot of spending of old films from the 1920s - 1960s to make me not want to buy as many newer released films. And as I've always said, the blu-ray format benefits old films the most. It's expected for a new movie to have perfect video and audio quality. But it's really impressive when an old movie gets a new restoration on blu-ray (or DVD). Anyone else going through this, especially after the Barnes and Noble Criterion sale?

They're going to have a sale I like sooner or later so I won't have to worry about that money sitting unused indefinitely and this way I wouldn't have to worry about the cases I want going out of stock before the next CC house sale.

[Show spoiler]Or I could just pay the five bucks to ship the cases. I suppose that is technically an option
.
Buy a gift card or 2 to bring your total above $50...worked for me, and now I have an extra $10 to spend.

Definitely. I've been going through the same thing as well. I've only been buying Criterions for a couple months now. I figure I'd rather buy a criterion and then I just redbox new releases if I want to see them. Helps that I have a redbox right down the street.

It's a strange one. It's not something I've ever watched from beginning to end. I've occasionally thrown it on while listening to music, like a pretty screen saver!

Matti Bye for me too Beta Man. And now I can't imagine the film with anything else.

That is the same one I watched with. I started with the other one then decided to try this one about 15 minutes into it...then realized I enjoyed listening to it so much more.

Even more surprising CoopFilm, it works for me as a standalone! Weekend before last, I spun it up again without re-watching the film...just to listen to that score.
