3D Setting -> 3D output -> Off

Best time to de-activate it is in the blu ray menu in the movie, sometimes having it off before starting the disc makes the "You need a 3D TV to play this blu ray" block message appear.
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=2472 this may help I think this is what I read before.

Interesting... and appreciated. I'm sure a movie like 3D JURASSIC PARK (or 3D TOP GUN) would have the 3D "locked", which would mean I can't do anything about it with my Oppo 203 and my 2D projector. Not gonna buy it just to find out; smeary UHD is good enough for me. Oh well.

The colors on the 3D blu, while better than the previous disc, are overly saturated to compensate for the darkening from the 3D glasses. It looks good but still has more noise reduction than The 4K disc.

The UHD gets the colors just about right and is the best looking version to date IMO but that all depends on how capable your display is at properly rendering HDR.

Any 3d release that I've seen, when sourced from the same master, always has the same color and contrast as the 2d version.

I used to have the 203 and JP 3D; I believe I used a forced option (or whatever it was called) on the Oppo to see it in 2D. However, the UHD BD is far superior to watch than the 3D-in-2D. Even the original BD is preferable.

The 3D works okay watching 3D though. The orange skin tones are more tolerable. I also didn't mind the DNR for 3D considering it's trying to replicate "real life" with no intent to support the original version of the movie.

JP 3D has wildly different color grading than the 2D blu-ray that more closely reflects the original look of the film with a strong orange push. The 4K disc refines that look with HDR and has the overall best appearance.

There may be some misunderstanding. You said that they boosted the saturation to compensate for 3d glasses. I was only saying that I've never seen evidence of that being done for 3d releases. It may further clarify things to say that I believe the 3d release to have the most accurate color and contrast of all current releases.

Regardless, the orange push on the 3D blu is overly strong when viewed in 2D IMO. The glasses help offset the issue when viewed in 3D and I believe that was intentional. As for accuracy, no one can say for sure. Personally I find the 4K disc to have the best color timing of the three releases but I’m glad there are multiple options out there to choose from.

Anybody have a good replacement cover I can print? I want to put these in a regular case so they match on my shelf. Thanks.

I gave Jurassic Park III a spin during the weekend, and I can see why people dislike the movie

Jurassic Park III transfer really is super disappointing. And I love the movie itself more than some do, so it stings that it didn't get the same treatment as Lost World on UHD.

It's a worse transfer than the first, which at least is disappointing in a passable way...

The transfer is actually the best among all the five movies on UHD. It's just that they didn't properly grade the footage at all. No cinematographer would ever shoot a movie so dull and dark that it's almost unwatchable.

@Mierzwiak, I talked about the transfer, not the final graded look, which is unwatchable. The scan/transfer from film to UHD has the best image in terms of detail resolved.

How to add images from Imgur here? I've added the url with the [img] tags at both ends and yet they don't show up.

copy the bbcode for the image you want to post and use "insert link" and paste the bbcode to the pop up
(paste it over the "http://" it's not needed)
actually, i think it's "linked bbcode" you want to use, that way it shows the lower res image in the board with the link to the high res image above the posted image

if that's what your trying to do

Not working. Only the link text gets posted here, the images themselves don't appear.

The only explanation for such ridiculous statement is that JPIII is the only JP you've seen on UHD.

I have seen both JP and JPII's UHD version and while the first one looks more or less the same as the highly inaccurate DVD and BD colours, the second one looks better, but does not resemble the original mud-brown and yellow colour timing of the prints.

"Ridiculous" is quite a strong reaction to my comment, I think.

Anyway, these are lowrez versions of some of the JP3 UHD frames that I colour corrected to match the original 35mm colour timing and infuse life onto the dull 4K original grading -

JP3 Charlie lowrez.jpg

JP3 Ellie lowrez.jpg

JP3 Worst things lowrez.jpg

JP3 Male raptor 1.jpg

Most of us were used to the dull, non-white balanced, pinkish and low contrast look of the DVD and the Blu-rays to the point that we started to believe those were faithful to the theatrical look. The UHDs (of the first 3 films) didn't fare better, either. Based on the 35mm print frames that I saw and some of the colour timed footage on the JP3 BTS footage in the DVDs, I tried bringing back the more contrasty and saturated look of the original film. The results might be uneven but they are truer to the original colours than any home video of the film has been so far.
Would love to get comments, suggestions on these. Thanks.
