Weaknesses in narrative is the #1 problem with films - always has been. It's not CGI (good or bad), bad dialogue or even bad acting - these are tolerable compromises that make strongly-written movies watchable IMO. Without a cohesive script, movies that skimp in other areas just fall apart. Crimson Peak isn't terrible - it's just a view-once kind of film.

Narrative is way down my list of priorities tbh. Direction, aesthetics and performance are far more important to me.

I really liked Crimson Peak, but haven’t gone back to it. I really liked the scale of the thing, and at the time remember wondering if The Magnificent Ambersons had been an influence on it.

So let me get this straight, you don't hate it but you agree with the Arch Stanton's comment that it's one of the worst films of the last five years?

The 123m dir's cut would be cool, but I can't see that happening...

Make it happen, Arrow.
Not to mention the complete set of trailers for Return of..., both numerous and hilarious, including outtakes/fluffs. See below...

My Blade of the Immortal steelbook shipped this morning.

Shipped through Royal Mail, which means I could get it in the States as early as next week.

Careful, I hear Trump has been setting some pretty high tariffs on imported steel!

Haven't seen that folding bed shot before. Nice.

I wonder if footage from the Julie Andrews cameo still exists?

I don't even think he knows what a steelbook is, let alone is aware of their existence.

No, I wouldn't slot it as one of the worst films of the last five years. One of the biggest disappointments? Probably so. Especially after Stephen King talked about it so highly.

Is 'Blade of the Immortal' the first Arrow Video disc to have an Audio Descriptive track?

Also, I noticed when checking the disc last night that there's no Arrow Video intro at the beginning, just the Arrow Films one.

Plus, they're not quite Alfredo Garcia length, but there's 85 minutes of cast interviews in the extras, as well as a 25 minute Miike interview

I haven't watched it yet - I feel like I should ASAP now

I think it was King himself though, who said that he preferred his TV version of The Shining over Kubrick's
[Show spoiler](masterful )
version.

Flash Sale confirmed for this weekend, midday tomorrow until midday Monday. Adverts on social media unfortunately have the dates wrong, claiming it's Friday 9th April to Monday 12th April - but it looks like they might be correcting those

Just saw that, Video and Academy, over 200 titles. Glad they don’t offer double points anymore bc I just ordered Sartana from Amazon thinking Arrow wouldn’t do a sale. Will be good to fill some gaps, maybe pick up the Marx Brothers set

It seems King always speaks complementary about movies based on his work just before or during their release. It makes sense he'd do that for publicity reasons. He did that with Dreamcatcher, too, and we all know the turd that is. Stephen King's the Shining is the more faithful adaptation of the book, and it has its good parts. I can see why he'd prefer that one as an adaptation of the Shining. But as comparative films, the Kubrick version is obviously a masterpiece of cinema, and has no equal.

I think that maybe the reason this website sale is only short, probably a HMV one is planned to follow shortly afterwards, hopefully.

Arrow sale? Crap, just saw Kill Baby Kill is in there which I literally bought last week. Still, I'm sure there will be one or two things in there I'll grab, perhaps even a box set (Taviani hopefully).

Glad this sale is happening. I'm a little behind on some titles.
