They should've only released the first trailer.

The marketing department surely agrees with Robert Zemeckis' philosophy regarding spoilers in trailers:

And yet
[Show spoiler]I didn't know it would end with them freeing the dinosaurs until right before it happened. I actually prefer to be as unspoiled as possible going into a movie.

I love how they say it's "very rare", as it's really not. One of the money shots in the ASM2 trailers and spots was literally the final shot of the film, Spidey swinging the manhole cover at da Rhino.

Let me jump in and say I didn't watch any trailers for JW:FK beyond the first, and stayed out of the threads, which is my standard policy for all films.

There's really no good reason to watch more than one trailer, preferably the first, for any movie. The rest just spoil the experience of seeing the film. The same with the threads. For many today, the movie is really secondary to whatever emotional benefit is to be gleaned by social interaction.

Which is fine by me if that's your thing, but it's a big reason why there is so much polarization and rush to judgement, especially disappointment and negativity, surrounding film.

Dating myself, but other than reviews, I can remember a time that the only comment made surrounding a film preference was that it was a 'bomb' or 'not my thing.' That's it. The same was true for a film that was enjoyable, 'great' or 'you need to see it.'

Discussion was more or less limited to the plot or an interpretation of the film's/director's intent for the arthouse stuff, and the best scenes for the action/horror stuff.

I didn't watch any trailers for the last 4 movies I watched theatrically (Rogue One, Logan, TLJ, and this) aside from the "Hurt" trailer for Logan that ran with R1. I used to watch trailers all the time, but lately I've found movies are much better without them. Especially since they like to pull crap like
[Show spoiler]putting X24's claws
in the above trailer.... So glad I wasn't paying close attention to that one.

(I thought I watched the superbowl commercials for this movie, but after rewatching it, doesn't ring a bell at all...)

I disagree entirely with this.

Maybe someday the marketing geniuses will figure out that spoilers in trailers aren't doing them any favors. If people are afraid of watching the trailers due to spoilers, then the trailers aren't getting watched and therefore aren't accomplishing anything.

No sir. I even covered my ears and closed my eyes when the second trailer was shown before Infinity War.

Trailers need to be just the tip, just for a second, just to see what it feels like. Instead it's usually ouch, ouch you're on my hair.

Didn't they blow the major twist of T2: Judgement Day when they released its trailer?

I never watched the trailer for T2 (was like four or five when it came out), but the one for Genisys did spoil the twist.

Just got back and didn't care for it, I loved Jurassic World too which maybe raised my expectations too much. My dad loved it which was more surprising than anything because my dad hates blockbuster summer movie types.

I was definitely letdown though and i've loved every jurassic movie but 3.

Meh, is it really that big a deal? It's just an empty soundbite at the end of an empty film.

Maybe for some people it's more than that.

(and other shots from the ending were shown in trailers as well -
[Show spoiler]the Mosasaurus among surfers, and the T-rex roaring at a lion
)

Though the ending of this movie wasn't ruined for me, I'm sensitive to spoilers and sympathetic to others who are, too.

Holy crap, never seen that final trailer before. I'm glad I didn't. The second half of the film was a surprise to me.

Universal has no one to blame but themselves for this underperforming.
