Am I a lost cause or will they offer it to be ordered the day before or of release? (Best Buy) Last edited by InTheNickOfTime; 04-07-2022 at 10:17 PM. |

tyrok said this won't be available in store so, no ordering the night before seems highly unlikely. May flicker in out for shipping a day or two after release, that seems to happen pretty often

Glad I pre-ordered 2. In defense of those that missed out, this is one that seems like everyone time it restocked, it sold out very quickly! Going to be a lot of disappointed collectors. |

They made a movie that was an overwhelming success and people jumped on the pre-orders. I'm confused as to why some people still think that there are supposed to be enough copies of a steelbook to go around for everybody that wants one. Print runs are decided upon beforehand. Who says there have to be enough copies to sell pre-orders everyday right up to release day and then more copies left over to fill shelves on release day and for weeks after? Are retailers supposed to only sell a set amount of copies during pre-order and then cut it off 2 months in advance if that amount sells out quickly just so there can be a few copies on store shelves on release day? They already stagger their pre-orders over a longer time period now. Shutting them down after a certain amount of time and then putting them back up later. Hopefully giving people more opportunities to grab a copy. I'm sure you've seen the many posts about how some people have missed the many pre-order windows for No Way Home over and over and over again. If Best Buy wanted to they could have just left the pre-order up from the beginning and they would have sold out all copies in the first week between Dec. 23rd and the end of 2021, 3 and a half months before the release date. I think you're confusing steelbooks with standard amaray editions. There are enough standard editions to go around for everybody and will be for years to come. I realize some of you want studios to make unlimited amounts of steelbooks so that they sit on shelves and stay in stock for months or even years so that prices drop. Then others laugh at how many copies of WW84 are still out there sitting on shelves and how somebody screwed up when they made that many. Then they wonder why there aren't as many copies of the next Warner Bros. titles. So people feel that the studios screw up if there aren't enough steelbooks for store shelves and they screw up if there are steelbooks left over on store shelves. ![]() |

Maybe Best Buy did get tons of copies for the movie of the year. But wouldn't it make sense then that more people then pre-ordered a steelbook for the movie of the year? Or 2 copies? Or more? |

In that case, do you or anyone know when’s the best time to check back for pre-orders/available for shipping? Is there not a set time kinda like how ISPU is usually available the night before release around 10PM PT?

That would be the best time, yes. But keep checking from that time for at least half an hour to an hour. Don't just check once at that time and then give up if you don't see it.

Getting the feeling that this is gonna wind up like the Scream steel and shipping on the day it comes out.
Worst part is Best Buy Customer Service doesn't even try to make it right when they fail to do what they promised. Release day delivery. |

You're welcome!
From what I've read in other threads over time, they don't always show up at exactly 10 p.m. PT (1 a.m. ET). It can take a few minutes or more. Having said that, it's best to be ready and start checking a few minutes before 10 p.m. PT (1 a.m. ET). Of course there isn't any guarantee that what Best Buy has done in the past is what they will do this time as well. Also, I would suggest to check Best Buy's listing a few times a day between now and release day and check in here as well for updates. Good luck to you. I hope you're able to get an order in! |

My line was around 20 to 25 dollars. If they charged the same amount for the steel book as the regular release then I would go for the steel book if I liked the artwork. Then they got greedy and started trying to get 35 per steel book and I started buying the releases when they hit 7 to 10.

There's no rule saying Sony HAS to make it a limited edition production run item that is only available on the movie release date. If they had a production shortage due to supply chain they are just going to push when more get printed but they aren't going to leave money on the table. It's not an if It gets printed more, but when. Even the original homecoming 4k steel showed up multiple different times throughout the years. At one point it was a $80 steel and Sony printed more flooding the market again. They will do the same here.
Fomo is over, back about your business as usual. |
