Back in the day (before movies raced to home releases only 3-4 months later), I used to see movies TONS of times. Hell, I saw Phantom Menace like 4 times in one day LOL.
I remember 1994 was especially epic. I saw The Crow and Speed like 9 times each; Gump, Pulp Fiction, and Lion King about 4 each, and tons of others multiple times...
Yeah, I guess that's not much of a record

I don't usually watch a movie more than once in the theater, so for me, 3 times was quite a bit.

Well that was a ways back. These days it's extremely rare that I see a movie even a second time in theaters. Probably only a couple a year, if that. Seeing a movie 3+ times anymore? That's almost unheard of. But GotG will be one of the few.

I'll probably watch it 3 times in theaters, seen it twice already. Want the third time to be in 3D...

I've seen it once in an early screening and once with the general public.

Will be watching it in IMAX sometime soon and will possibly watch it once more before it leaves the local theatre at the end of its run.

The Winter Soldier and Edge of Tomorrow are my top movies of the year. TWS being my #1 overall.

Like I said, it just seems to me that his physical presence interferes with his skill set. Without the physical form present on screen, his performance is rich and genuine. His body and dialogue are in conflict with each other when he is on screen.

Does having two viewings in the close future and three behind me count as a problem?

I'm asking just for because.

I did a thread search for "b-roll" and came up with just one short 4-minute clip posted here, but here's the full 11+ minutes of B-roll footage:

I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Sean Gunn standing in for Rocket (or Thanos) but alas, no such luck.
I thought watching Bradley and Vin do their voice work was pretty cool.

that would be the director's fault not Bradley's.

or the cgi artist for Rocket.

Movies used to play for a longer period of time theatrically especially if the film was a hit. Also, the window between theatrical and video release used to be much longer. Now it's like three months except for something like Captain America: TWS and that's only because they want to tie it in with that Agents of Shield Blu-ray release and the start of the second season.

So, I saw Guardians and I enjoyed it but I'm not quite on the "Best Marvel movie ever" bandwagon.

The villains are a bit weak and not very well defined. Standard bad guys really.
Also, this might be a good time to talk about these CGI Marvel action climaxes . They are all starting to look the same. I really enjoyed all the heroes in Guardians but I began to glaze over when it got CGI heavy at the end. I miss the days of simple but suspenseful action like the death star trench sequence in Star Wars. Tie fighters bad, X-wing good and a simple goal but stakes that couldn't be higher. But I know...audiences today demand a heavy CGI climax...

All in all though, Guardians is a fun movie that's perfect for a lazy summer afternoon. Just don't fall too deep into the hyperbole before seeing it...

1.78, 1. 85.............?

It wouldn't change to 1.44 since they didn't use IMAX cameras, right?

Anyone know for sure?

EDIT: IMDB claims some scenes are 1.90, but it's IMDB so............
It's roughly 1.89 or rounded up to 1.9
If I'm not mistaken, it's basically full 2K container. 2048x1080

Transformers - Age of Extinction was the first to use the new Digital IMAX 3D Camera.
Guardians was shot mostly with the ARRI Alexa and then converted to 3D and with 3D visual effects.

Someone asked about ten pages ago if GOTG was everyones favorite for the year. Easily. What with widescreen TV's and Blu-ray, I never go see movies twice anymore. I saw GOTG twice Thursday night and I'm going again on my day off. And again. And again. I just LOVE this movie.

I'm also gonna go out on a limb and say that James Gunn should get nominated for best screenplay and best director. I find it nothing short of amazing that the most touching, heartfelt moment I've seen onscreen all year is a three word exchange between a talking tree and a machine gun toting raccoon. Well played, Mr. Gunn, well played.

Just as an aside, the soundtrack (Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.1) is a lot of fun too

Knew absolutely nothing about these characters or the comic. Saw posters & part of a trailer & thought it was going to be really stupid. But, I've really enjoyed the other Marvel films, so I went to see it.

5 stars!

Wonderful! Unexpected. Pure fun beginning to end.

Will purchase this on BD.
