Asking customers not to flood the store or panic is like telling someone not to run when they see a tsunami coming. The reason that people do flood the store and panic is because no one trusts that there will be more available when Dark Force's own statement clearly says "Due to the medical emergency with Banana Man we have limited access to all CODE RED INVENTORY!!" If I didn't already have one from the first time around, I would have definitely made sure to keep refreshing on this latest batch after reading that statement.

To me it means that if Bill, with his myriad of increasing health issues, takes a sudden turn for the worse, the remaining 500ish copies could potentially end up sitting in limbo indefinitely.

Maybe not indefinitely but there certainly may be a long delay.

Dark Force is still a bit backed up in shipping from the first round of orders, nevermind the batch they got last night. As a result, even if they were authorized to sell more it will probably be a little while before more copies of this go up so they can catch up.

Sorry, I don't think your anecdotal story is really relevant to society as a whole. I have never heard anyone complain about receiving a card (though, like your story, that doesn't prove a thing), and generally people today don't send them. Just look into how much letter mail has decreased over the last 2 decades. In 2009, the U.S. Postal service delivered 31.6 billion pieces of first class mail, which dropped to 17.5 billion in 2018, per the USPS own figures:
https://facts.usps.com/table-facts/
"Young people" would be more likely to text sympathy than send a card, as they've grown up in a culture that has moved away from mail altogether (other than parcels! We gotta get our parcels!).

I went to bed last night thinking I'd forgotten to do something. At about 2 AM I wake up, slightly startled, and suddenly realize what I'd forgotten: I forgot to check the Dark Force store for the second batch of SOAWN Blu-rays. I briefly considered getting out of bed and turning on the computer to see if I could snag a copy but decided not to. Why bother. Why would I make an effort to spend $30 on a POS horror flick from 1979 at 2 o'clock in the morning? I'll grab a used copy from someone trading one on the forums here at some point.

I agree that a younger person is far less likely to send a physical card because of the current culture of texting. However, many older people don't own smartphones or even know how to text. Oh a lot of seniors do, of course, but not everyone.

For those people who don't use texting I can see them receiving physical greeting cards but that doesn't determine the age of the person sending the cards. Anyone who is a friend or loved one of the elderly person would have to mail a card if they can't text, regardless of the sender's age.

Well if I were up at 2am anyway and wanted it, I would have checked, simply because I was up.

Is SOAWN a POS horror flick from 1979? You better believe it. Has it been a Holy Grail title on my wish list for many years? You can believe that too. Why? Because I am a collector, and not every title in my collection could go toe-to-toe with Citizen Kane and win (in fact most of them would die a miserable death in battle).

I have more POS horror flicks in my collection than you could shake a stick at, and I am happy to have them all because I enjoy collecting horror titles of all quality. Also, if the passage of time makes me forget what a POS they really are and I want to revisit them down the road, I can.

I have owned a commercial VHS of SOAWN for many years and made a DVD-r from it that was watchable - not great because it's still from a VHS, but better than the rips that have been out there, so I have seen it quite a few times. I will be honest and say it is not a great film. However, there is a certain low budget charm to it that I enjoy, and enough time has passed since my last viewing to make me look forward to finally seeing it in HD and seeing the long-lost fourth segment for the very first time. You and I have always had similar taste in horror films, gauging your collection, so even though it is a POS film in the end, I think you would enjoy having it in your own collection too.

Ugh, missed out on the Scream/Steel bundle because they open up past my darn bedtime on the East coast. Guess I'll just wait... or spend my money elsewhere like I just did at Hamilton Books

All things considered, hard to act like the DF hype stuff everyone is complaining about isn’t effective

Seem to have done really well with this title, and at a high price too.

Still a bucket-lister for me until the panic BS ends. Somewhere there sits the shipment from the replicator. Since this is supposed to be a really big release, what would you guess that order was for? 1000? 2000? more?

But I suppose they are selling more of it small batches and the hype, than if they put it up on their store. Still a sh*tshow and a bucket-lister.

Not really. He's only sold a few hundred copies, and many of those have just gone to eBay scalpers.

Well it's more than 400 sold with the bundles they offered in both batches (the first sale was 200 standalone copies and 25 bundled for a total of 225 sold. I missed the second sale completely since it happened while I was asleep, so I don't know exactly how many were sold including the three bundles that were offered this time - maybe 275 total?).

I would guess it's probably close to 500 sold, which means half the run is already gone.

There were a lot less individual ones available the second sale. I'd guess 400 is about right

But anyways yeah nearly half the run is gone.

And the two sellers selling multiple copies on ebay already, I wonder if they ordered from Darkforce or got them another way.

Only 1000 pressed. Now, where have we heard that before?
Are they numbered? Nope.
If he sells this 1000, they won't walk away from the bank. Bill has medical bills to pay.

Bucketlist. And not because I haven't bought all CR and DF releases to date. Just not going to play this BS game which rewards fleabayers and sh*ts on loyal customers.

Wow!! What a cluster-f@@k this release has been. At least MM and VS give you decent times to pick up their LE product, this late night sh!t is ridiculous. I know they are on the coast, but c'mon. Put the damn product up at 6-7pm Western time, so everyone has chance to purchase. As much as I hate to admit, I would have given DF a sale for the Arena bundle, as I wanted to pick that up sooner or later and SOAWN would have come down to the $20 range, which was where I wanted to be for bare-bones and no swag with it. I guess that is out of the question, or is this 30 minute sale going to happen again anytime soon.....

Yawn! Wake me up when 88 Films has theirs available to pre-order through Amazon UK. It'll likely be cheaper and technically superior.
