I did not notice Oppenheimer having any of that shaky cam technique that you so despise. I enjoyed the movie; you might want to consider at least renting it if you like historical biopics.

Not that anyone asked, but my favourite discs so far this year, bearing in mind I buy most in bulk so I’m behind many here. (Some titles from 2022)

1. Top Gun: Maverick 4K stunning cockpit scenes, took my breath away. Lovely bookend to the original and I actually prefer this sequel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

2. Aftersun: heart breaking and I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Brilliant soundtrack also.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3. Nightmare Alley: Modern noir from del toro with a superb cast, including Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette and Cate Blanchett. Beautifully shot and mysterious. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4. Infinity Pool: Delicious nightmare fuel from Cronenberg junior, the brilliant Mia Goth stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5. Pearl: the prequel to X and a showcase for Mia Goth, go is having her well deserved time in the limelight.

6. The Menu Thrilling black comedy/horror/thriller starring Ralph Fiennes. Twisted and thoroughly enjoyable ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

7. Sisu 4K. Mad Max meets Rambo with a sprinkling or Inglorious Bastards. Huge fun and brutal kills.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

8. John Wick 4 4K. John Wick doing what he does best, fighting enemies in increasingly impressive ways. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

9. Across The Spider-verse 4K: Mesmerising and much better Metaverse than anything Marvel have done in live action. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

10. All My Friends Hate Me. British thriller with a paranoid ‘old friends’ meet up that builds into a tense finale. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This list will change when MI 7 and Oppenheimer get 4K launches.

And the big question, why did you not do your own comments for each movie listed.
I don't really know about projectors but is there a way to restrict what is projected to scope? The film is still watchable without the IMAX scenes.

1 Barbie - saw in theatre, enjoyed but won't buy
2 The Super Mario Bros. Movie - looks like nostalgia film aimed at very young children. Have no nostalgia for the games.
3 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse -- saw in theatre, will buy when cheaper
4 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - Wasn't a fan of the first but will rent this.
5 Oppenheimer -- saw in theatre, will buy
6 The Little Mermaid -- zero interest
7 Avatar: The Way of Water -- saw in theatre, may buy for bonus features when price is reduced
8 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania -- no interest
9 John Wick: Chapter 4 -- Didn't love the first but will rent this
10 Sound of Freedom -- Hard to say how much of people's response to the film is from the film itself and not everything surrounding it. May rent.
11 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny -- little interest but may rent if available
12 Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One -- saw in theatre and will buy
13 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts -- little interest, may rent
14 Creed III -- will rent
15 Elemental -- will rent

I never said "Discs are Dying," just that the Studios will cut back on 4K UHD. The Studios will look at the numbers and adjust their Disc Production. Again the Revenue Report shows DVD's and BD sell more at the best Profit Margin!

1 Barbie: Have not seen.
2 The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Not for me but well done. My son loved it.
3 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Near masterpiece
4 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Rocket shines. Great trilogy ender.
5 Oppenheimer: Masterpiece! Favorite movie of the year thus far.
6 The Little Mermaid: Have not seen.
7 Avatar: The Way of Water: Exciting and entertaining. Worthy sequel.
8 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: Ouch! Big failure.
9 John Wick: Chapter 4: The pinnacle of action filmmaking though could be trimmed.
10 Sound of Freedom: Have not seen.
11 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: Better than Crystal Skull. That's about it.
12 Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Slightly disappointed but only because the bar was so high. Still thrilling and Hayley Atwell steals the movie.
13 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts: A step back from Bumblebee but better than most Bay entries.
14 Creed III: Have not seen.
15 Elemental: Have not seen.

I don't have the time or energy to look back through his posts to refute this. But we ALL know he said it.

You did not specifically say that "discs are dying" this time, but you most certainly have said it countless times before and you know it. You live for the day when you can say that in the past tense because you so very much want to gloat about it.

The Media Play News Revenue Report that you keep referencing never says one damn thing about profit margins.

It only shows the average price that consumers paid for DVDs and Blu-rays and with blu-rays all three types, regular blu-ray, 3D blu-ray, and Ultra HD blu-ray are all lumped together. Media Play News does not offer average consumer price paid information for each individual type of blu-ray and they never have.

Media Play News shows how much revenue DVDs and Blu-rays (all three types combined) generated in a given week. Again, nothing is EVER said about profit margins. Revenue is not even remotely the same thing as profit.

The Media Play News weekly report does show the format market share of three disc formats (DVD, Blu-ray, and UHD) for any given week, but again nothing is said about profit margins for any of them.

You are seeing what you want to see and not what is actually being reported as you always do.

IIRC have The American Experience and/or Nova where Oppenheimer was a large part of the story. If GameFly adds to their disc library then I will add it to my queue.

Just watched the 4K disc of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and it was great. The 4K disc is in HDR10 but if you redeem the 4K digital copy via Movies Anywhere it will have Dolby Vision.

Streaming really does cost studios a fortune. Before it would be hard to wait till something’s a good price now it’s skip theaters stream it and buy it dirt cheap. The main things I collect these days are anime and a few Warner archive titles. I used to buy alot of disney but Disney plus kind of killed any urgency.

Barbie - rent it from the library
2 The Super Mario Bros. Movie - Black Friday buy
3 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - Black Friday buy
4 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - Black Friday buy
5 Oppenheimer- buy for my dad
6 The Little Mermaid- stream it maybe
7 Avatar: The Way of Water- streamed it
8 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania- Black Friday buy
9 John Wick: Chapter 4- Black Friday buy
10 Sound of Freedom - no interest
11 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - stream it
12 Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One - no interest
13 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - buy it cheap since I have the others
14 Creed III- no interest
15 Elemental- Black Friday buy
