Thanks for stopping by again Russ.

Sorry, I've been running on very little sleep for the last few days, and my brain is exhausted from researching AVRs for the last few days. What little sleep I've gotten has been filled with bizarre dreams of charts, spec sheets, lists, diagrams, and bulldozer-sized receivers coming after me!

Yes, I finally pulled the trigger on an Onkyo TX-NR809. It has pre-outs and certified 4ohm performance.

I would've liked to went with a top-end NAD, Anthem, or a Rotel
[Show spoiler]
but they were way out of my price range.

I think/hope that this will be a big improvement over my entry level Sony. I should have it by Tuesday.

Thanks buddy.

I was originally leaning towards the 609, but it didn't have pre-outs or 4ohm performance, and had 2EQ instead of MultEQ XT, among lots of other deficits. It's very much at least partially your fault that I stepped up a couple of levels to better quality and performance. The 609 was only $300, but the 809 was almost $700 shipped. Thanks for helping me unload an extra $400 from my wallet.

Thanks Al, I'm sure it won't be too bad, but I'm just feeling lazy as hell today.

Holy crap! I just ordered my new receiver early this morning, and it originally gave me an estimated delivery date of Tuesday 27th. I just got home and checked the tracking, and now it's showing that it should be here tomorrow afternoon!

I just hope it arrives before I have to go to work tomorrow night.

Thanks guys.

I can't wait to get it hooked up to see how much better it will perform compared to my Sony. The main things that I'm hoping to get is more clarity and intelligibility on dialog, and more dimensionality and better imaging overall. Moving from my Polks to my HTD Level 3s was a big jump in sound quality, especially in the imaging. Hopefully the Onkyo will take it to another level.

How are you liking those new Ascends Cliff?
