I never knew Target could be so shady. They sent me an email saying a mailed return did not qualify, they didn't say why, and that they were reversing the refund they had already issued to me. When I called they couldn't explain why it was rejected. First maybe it was the wrong item (a lie) then they tried to say the package was empty! I asked if they reached out to UPS but the person refused to answer. She was probably totally clueless on that point as about the reason for the return's rejection. She basically said to take it up with my credit card company and they wouldn't help me further! I know Amazon can be shady on occasion but this was surreal.

I've never had Amazon reject a legitimate online return. In fact, it's never happened to me with any online retailer.

That's just crazy! I've never done a Target return through the mail. Did you put the return label on the box, or was it done by UPS (and if so, was the box sealed by you, or did UPS do it)? I ask because maybe they put the label on the wrong box... Or maybe UPS was shady...

A few years ago I had initiated a return on the Batman Animated Series Blu-ray with the Funko pop thing because the box arrived crushed. I sent it off and then less than a day later got an email from Amazon demanding pictures. I usually print the label and place it in a drop box using the same packaging. They apparently received it but something triggered them. The item was still sealed but had been crushed thanks to their sometimes shoddy packaging. The person I spoke was clearly in the dark but was completely unhelpful.

OK, that's crazy. There have been (many?) times where I've returned a damaged item, but I've never been asked for pics!

Although, as you may recall, that particular set did have a HUGE damage issue...BECAUSE THEY SHIPPED THEM IN PLASTIC BAGS!

I'm really curious now what you returned to Target. It's been years since they've asked me to return a movie. When they arrive damaged, I simply use their online request system and always include a photo of the damage. I've done it for maybe 15-20 movies in the last few years and they've never asked me to send back a single one. They always send me a replacement for free. Amazon's return system is similar, but only a handful of times did they not require me to send it back to them. I've returned at least 50 items to Amazon using their paid return service. Never had an issue with either.

I’m thinking that’s what triggered it. It had just come out and they were probably getting a ton of damaged returns. I remember a lot of people complaining about it.

It was the Classic Monsters vol. 2 set. A weighty set but not particularly large. I think something happened at their warehouse. Maybe an employee opened it for processing and left the empty package laying there and another employee grabbed and scanned that. I definitely will dispute when the charge hits. Right now it’s pending. Might contact their corporate offices too.

I thankfully got one of "the good" sets, but yeah, Amazon (and others) really f'd that entire release.

I still feel the pain from other members here (why I even remembered the reference).

I got 4 $70's for $15 and I fulfilled it by getting four $75 choice GC which came with a $10 Target GC each. So I got $300 worth of GC for different retailers and I got $55 in Target GC and rewards.

My other account got the $100x4 spending which I will just have to punt unless some $25 off $100 toys promo arrives or we have B2G1 or BOGO50 for movies.
